Crabby Joe's Bar • Grill — Restaurant in Stratford

This review is only bad because of one waitress. Most of the servers are great and so is the manager and the food. I frequently visit this Crabby Joe’s (usually at least once a week) and have never had an issue. However, I went in for appetizers tonight with some friends (there were 6 of us) and the waitress was incredibly unprofessional. We ordered our appetizers and then when they were cleared we were asked about dessert. Two of the friends that were out responded that we didn’t want dessert but wanted “pan bread.” The waitress (blonde hair - don’t know her name) obviously misheard and thought we ordered a bread pudding. She responded saying “bread pudding,” nodded, and then immediately left and went into the back area and gave us no time to correct her. We couldn’t find her after that and she came out with the dessert. We apologized and corrected her and she took it away and put through the “skillet bread.” (She harshly corrected us). While waiting for it to come out, she complained about us to her male coworker (he has been great everytime I’m there) and the manager (he’s also been great everytime). She was in view of us both times she complained and kept looking over at us and pointing. She wasn’t loud enough to hear but I easily read her lips and knew word for word what she was saying.

Also, we were there for almost an hour and a half and only got one order of drinks. We all sat with our drinks empty and she was never around long enough to ask for refills.

As someone who works in customer service, I know we all complain about some customers but we never do it in front of the customers, especially the ones we are complaining about. Her attitude was incredibly unprofessional.

Edit: I wanted to add that this is not the first time I’ve had an issue with her. My boyfriend and I have been coming here since before we got together (3 years ago) and we’ve had her as our waitress many times. She’s often distracted by other coworkers who are obviously done their shifts and enjoying drinks at the bar. She also usually just asks for drinks and food and then disappears until the food comes out and we don’t see her again until she brings the bills. She’s not very attentive.

The following review is in regards to our February 28, 2019 staff dinner at this restaurant, it was meant to be an evening of enjoyment and relaxation after a hard days work. Unfortunately this great restaurant gets a low rating and its only because of our waitress who had such a cold demeanor about her and acted very very unprofessional. My staff was quick to notice this waitress as they watched her unacceptable cold behavior while conversing at the tables around us, it was pretty clear she hates her job. Our situation was that I clearly stated when we sat down that I would be covering all my staff dinners plus a first drink only of all my staff, and this seemed to be clearly understood by the waitress, who obviously wasn't listening. As we finished our dinners each of my staff was handed an individual bill for there dinner, and no second drinks were ever ordered so it was an easy order right from the start. She even screwed up and didn't give the discount on one of the meals that was discussed right at the time of ordering the meals (wow). When I explained this to the waitress she instantly jumped down my throat and showed everyone exactly how rude she could be OMG, this was her way of making it very clear in her little world that she was right and I was wrong in front of my staff, two of my staff actually felt embarrassed, the others laughed it off. Our servers name was Kiani or Kiani is the name of the manager who took over because I ordered this waitress to get away from our table and send a manager, the manager instantly did the cover-up thing saying that she's never had any trouble with this waitress before... lol okay I understand that statement but it doesn't work. I would fire any of my staff instantly on the spot if they spoke to a client in this manner, too bad and once again Crabby Joes is not to blame for the small incompetency of one...

We will not be returning to this location.The manager is rude and arrogant. We have always enjoyed the food and staff .. but today we were shocked by how rude the current manager is .. the waitress had far more experience dealing with customers than him. When the manager went to seat us we asked to sit at a table right beside where we were being seated ..he seemed put out by our request. When our food was delivered by him .. we asked for plates and silverware.. he said 'yes .. I will get it and be right back'. He didn't come back and our food sat and got cold. The waitress came over and we explained our food was cold and we didn't have cutlery or plates. She was very apologetic and took our food to be put back on the grill. We were then served our food and told the manager would come over and speak with us. He did come to the table to explain that he was sorry and they had been very busy and that he would discount our bills. As he was turning to walk away he made a comment that he wanted it to be know he did try to seat us at a table that was plated and we chose to sit at a different table.. WOW is all I could think...I was shocked by such rude and juvenile behavior from a so called "Manager ". The waitress returned to check back and the food was good ... she did say the Manager was willing to give us no charge dessert.. we didn't want dessert so he did give a 50% discount off our meal .. but it wasn't about money ..it was about his poor attitude... Our waitress was fantastic and did all the right things ... So now we will find a new place to enjoy...
