TLDR; - Food tasted fine but service was horrible!
My wife and I decided we'd head out for dinner on Monday. We have a gift card for Montana's and we have had good luck in the past there and other Montana restaurants. Tonight was not a great night and one of the worst service we have had. It wasn't busy when we walked in and we were seated right away across from the bar. The front of house person told us the specials for the night and said our server would be with us shortly. It took about 15 minutes for the server to get to us. If this was a busy night, I'd understand the wait but half the restaurant was empty. There were maybe 4 other tables seated in our area. This was also a sign of things to come. She took our full orders and took off. We got our drinks probably another 10 minutes later and the food came out another 20 minutes later. That was quick and not bad at all but we didn't get our appetizer we ordered. Apparently she forgot to ring it up because "we added it on at the end after she put her paper away and she forgot about it". They fired one up and it was out in about 10 minutes after we already started eating. Our food was good though my wife said hers was only warm and not really hot. My fajita meal was hot but the tortillas weren't the most fresh and definitely were not warmed like I have normally had. Our server finally decided to check in with us after we were halfway through our meals and I asked for a coke since I was finished with my Caesar before our meal even came out and needed something else. It never came out. We were going to order dessert but after all the other screw ups and long wait, we just took the bill and left.
Our server was also the one tending bar. It was very clear she was not capable of doing both waiting tables and managing the drinks. I'm not sure if she normally waits tables and they were understaffed or not. You could also hear her make excuses every time she went to a table and apologized for the wait. Just as a reference as well, the other female server looking after the other side of the restaurant had just as many tables and you could see her constantly checking in and refilling drinks.
For an $80 meal, I expected a lot more of this place and doubt I...
Read moreWe ordered soda pops to drink my gingerale had no taste. It was like carbonated water. Then we ordered appetizer which was spinach dip. That was quite good. Then my wife and I both ordered the regular Rib,wing and fries dinner. It was the most disgusting thing I ever had to eat. The ribs were ice cold and I mean cold not even warm. The ribs were dried out so bad they crunched. I said to my wife I can't eat these ribs they are ice cold and dried out she said don't make a scene just eat it. Then I tried my chicken and they were dried out even worse but at least warm although very crunchy. I also asked for gravy for my fries and it was warm and like jelly. When I dipped my fries in the grave the gravy it jiggled like jelly does. My wife and I had to ask for ketchup and the waitress brings this little gravy bowl size half filled with ketchup. So I guess we dip our fries in the ketchup because we had no way of getting the ketchup out of the bowl and onto our fries. We were both out of drinks quarter way through the meal. Waitress after waitress walked past out table not one looked to see if we needed our drinks refilled. We left there and stopped at MacDonald's and bought drinks. This was the worst meal I have ever had in 58 years. I will never be back to the Stratford Ontario location. Tip is a gratuity for great food and great service my wife gave a tip still but a very small one. It wasn't even that busy to use as an excuse for such horrible food and service. We love the Montana's in the Kitchener-Waterloo area but we will never return to the Stratford location. Food was awful and the wait staff disorganized and lacking in...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience. Table of three. 8:00pm on Saturday night. My sister got there first and was waiting for us. noone came by to offer her a drink, or anything. We got there twenty minutes later, and it took an additional 15 minutes before anyone came to the table (that honestly should have been the clue... but it wasn't)- When our waitress came we ordered drinks and our food - Apps included. 15 minutes later she came back to tell us that 2/3 of our orders had to be changed. they ran out of brisket (this is understandable) - oh and gravy (what??) We asked for refills three times before they came. Apps came 40 minutes after ordering them. They must have been under the heat lamp for most of that time, because our nachos tasted like cardboard - The meal was slightly better. (My sister's not so much - her burger was dry AF) When the waitress came back to figure out the bills, she had a heck of a time, because two of the three orders were changed. IT took her a good 20 minutes to figure out the bills...
So what should have been a good evening out turned into one of our worst dining experiences to date. We have never had SUPER service there, but tonight topped it. I'd like to note that the restaurant wasn't Empty, but it wasn't packed. and as the night went on, it emptied out, and nothing really improved. -2 hours plus...
We will NOT be returning to...
