If you like speed, impersonal service and your sandwich wadded into an inedible ball of muck, this is indeed the subway for you.
They do not speak much English at this subway, other than those exact words and phrases needed to sell you a sandwich.
This would not normally be a problem, I've been served many times by guestworkers at fast food outlets, except that here they've been trained to hurry along as fast as possible, and so rattle off the Sandwich making questions like a machine gun. There's hardly any waiting for your response before firing the next one.
All the while nobody bothers to make any sort of eye contact, which is perhaps a cultural thing.
These people could be gutting fish for all they care.
The result is that you wind up almost pushing the customer in front of you towards the til, so that you might see what your choices are.
If you don't answer quickly enough they keep repeating the question until finally you say something, even if it's not what you would have chosen given more time.
Finally, they roll your lunch into the tightest ball they can manage, before stuffing it firmly into the bag, daring you to try enjoy your purchase.
What an awful place. Never ever again. Ever.
And on the subject of guest workers... Why are they good enough to make me a sandwich, yet not good enough to be allowed to apply for Canadian citizenship? Work your term, then get out and go back home? No chance of being allowed to...
Read moreMy family & I were traveling through Strathmore on Wednesday and decided to stop at subway for lunch. It was just before 1pm so it was fairly busy. 1st thing I noticed was they do not change thier gloves often. I watched her make 7 sandwiches, touching the oven to get bread each time, toasting subs as well. All of this with the same set of gloves on. 2nd thing I noticed was the staff wrapping the sandwiches was cutting them, wrapping and then getting payments for the food, again I saw her do this with the 7 orders ahead of me..As soon as I got up there I asked her to please change her gloves 2x actually. 3rd thing was it seemd the 3 staff working ( one seemed to be a mamager) had some serious animosity with each other.and was showing in front if the customers. I strongly feel that the staff needs to be trained and reminded to changes those gloves! Will never eat here again or recommend but I do hope they get...
Read moreWorst customer service ever. We ordered online about half an hour before we were ready to pick it up. We paid online, and the order was confirmed. About 10 minutes before we were to pick it up, we got an email saying the order was canceled and to speak with the store. We tried to call and they would not answer the phone. So I went into the store to speak with them. I actually was able to speak with the franchise owner who happened to be helping make sandwiches. He had no explanation and was less than helpful. He shrugged his shoulders when I asked why the order had been canceled. I asked about already paying for the order and he said the money would be refunded sometime between the next couple hours and next couple days. No offer to make the sandwiches while I stood there no offer to try and figure out why the order had been canceled, just dismissive and a shrug of the shoulders.
