I went to Roy's on 2.41 pm Sunday. The open sign was faded when I walked in and I looked at the clock and it said it closes at 3pm. The lady in front of me looked at me and said to me It's closed (restaurant) early today. I asked her how early do you usually close at? She said she wasn't going to keep it open for a few minutes. I was stunned and look at my phone and i saw 2:42pm on my phone and I ask her do you usually close 20 minutes or 30 minutes early or something like that? She didn't answer my question and she just said its close. I thought the definition for a few minutes would be around 3-5 minutes; 18 minutes is not a "few" minutes. So I was asking her, what is the best time to come in the afternoon If can't follow the sign that says 3pm? She's ignored me, and told me it's closed...
I return on Wednesday and I purchase French toast. The delivery was fast but the french toast wasn't very good. It made feel me a little sick, and I couldn't taste very much egg out of the fresh toast, it was loaded with seasonings. I arrived there at 2:38PM, and stay there until 2:52PM. It strange they aren't consistent with their closing times.
Most of the menu items are medium price for breakfast diner. I was there early in summer with my family, and I had regular 2 eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Which seems to be best for your dollar value. I had "alright" time here, but I didn't remember any negative problems at that time.
There is some rounding errors with their math, so I would double check every time you buy something here, and I wouldn't leave any tip if they start mistreating you or they start to "gaslight" you with non-sense. I am "assuming" they close early if they have no customers (perhaps "Sundays" are a bad day) inside the diner, and likely 20-30 minutes before closing time (3PM). The customer service is poor quality. Environment is clean and they have old pictures of Strathroy city hanging on the walls. They have good speed for getting...
Read moreWe had a late breakfast this morning at Roy’s after a hockey tournament game. We have eaten at Roy’s before (last year) and food was decent, so that’s why I decided to dine with them again. However, our experience today was anything but good. For starters, I ordered a kids cheeseburger meal for my 4 year old son. After pretty much eating most of the burger, he said he was full. He usually finishes all his meals, so I told him to finish it especially since he had a small breakfast. He told me he didn’t like it. I noticed something funny poking out from under the burger. At first, I thought it was bacon (if I thought was weird because we didn’t order bacon the burger), but on closer inspection it looked like paper. Turns out it was the paper liner that comes with frozen burgers. I guess they never bothered to remove the paper packaging because I can’t figure out how that was missed. The waitress was apologetic and removed the kids meal from the bill. However, this sort of carelessness is still not acceptable! As for the other meals, taste was lacking. The shredded hash browns were terrible. I would bet money that it’s the boxed dehydrated shredded potatoes from Costco. They were cold, undercooked, and tasteless. Services was decent, but we did have to wait awhile to get menus (8-10 mins), while others were seated and given menus immediately. I feel like there has definitely been a downgrade in food quality since last year. It’s...
Read moreDisappointed. I've been driving past this place for years, and never had time to stop in for breakfast, and today I'm kinda sad that I did! Not sure why this little diner gets good reviews because they clearly stopped caring.
Ordered the Greek omelet; almost no feta shredded potatoes were a little under cooked eggs were fine gyro meat was meh.. dry and over seasoned
Also ordered breakfast poutine; we got fries, not home fries. Who serves fries for a breakfast routine?! 🤦♂️ bacon crumble instead of real bacon.. seriously?! That is the epitome of laziness and lack of caring. Been to hundreds of restaurants around the world for breakfast and never seen a place serve bacon crumble. 🤦♂️ asked for the gravy on the side so it didn't mix with the hollandaise, and got both on the side, so the cheese didn't melt. Who puts gravy and hollandaise on breakfast poutine anyway! 🤷♂️🤦♂️Sheesh..
Points for quick and friendly service, the gravy and hollandaise were good, and using real curds. For 45 bucks for 2 people I've had way better breakfast for less!...
