In the last two years we have spent almost $2000 at New York New York. When the pandemic hit, we supported them by ordering in. When they started opening their doors again, we were one of the first customers back. We’ve brought family and friends here. Even when their prices started increasing and their portion sizes went down, we stayed on, trying to support a business Now this is the last straw!
Tonight, we went there and were told there was a “shared plate” charge of $4.00 plus tax on that sharing as well. Talk about two-bitting your customers to death. My wife and I are at the age where having a plate each is just too much food. Loyalty is meaningless, just increase the price and the customers will pay it of course! WE WILL NOT. I find this practice horrible and will show my discontent with my feet (we will NOT go back).
These people have absolutely no management skills whatsoever. How much is it going to cost them to find good customers like us. Good management is about keeping loyal customers, providing good service and good portion service. What used to be $23.95 is now $29.95. This is a 36% increase with 20% less on the plate – less shrimp, less salad, less rice, no butter, half a potato gone, smaller pita bread, etc. etc. Do we need to add another $4 to the bill as well now for doing nothing other than providing an extra plate?
Two years ago, our bill used to be around $35. today it’s $55 a 36% increase in two years (now that is inflation at its finest). It’s not worth it at all and obviously we will not be going back!!!
When you read the reviews avoid anyone who has written more than 10 reviews. These people are paid reviewers and likely never been to the restaurant.

Where we used to get six prawns with the souvlaki we now get five, where we used to get clarified butter (garlic or plain) we now get none. Where the potatoes used to have two halves, we now get one half. The owner is obviously lying, I am well supported be many other comments. Because of the price increases (gouging) up over 36% in two years (which the owner calls moderate) I would recommend this place to no one.
Let us compare Old Spaghetti Factory in October 2020 was $ 29.52 and yesterday in October 2022 it was $ 31.64. At New York Greek in October 2020 our meal was $36.78 and yesterday October 2022 it was $ 59.59 not including TIPS. That is a 62% increase and for anyone who wants it I have the bills to prove it. How does the owner of New York New York justify this. We welcome your...
Read moreI'm usually a big fan of this restaurant. We order takeout from their menu at least once a month and a friend and I use this as our "let's catch up over dinner" spot often. As a creature of habit, I always order the exact same dish - the Broadway Chicken. It's consistently good and when you're spending $60 on dinner, you want a guaranteed good thing. This evening we ordered takeout from the parking lot as soon as the restaurant opened and went home as usual. I was surprised when I opened my chicken there didn't appear to be any Dijon sauce. So I called to let them know. I feel bad for the employee I was speaking with first because she was simply doing as she was told. I explained the situation to her and she went to speak with the manager and kitchen about it. Then she came back and asked for a photo of the dish - which I had offered kind of as a joke but was absolutely cool to send. About half an hour after I sent the photo she called me back to say they had "reviewed tapes" of the boss putting the sauce on and if it wasn't enough, next time I should order extra sauce. That was a surprise. I was contacting them to explain that I was dissatisfied with my meal and their response essentially was, we cooked it properly so that's your problem. Eventually the manager came to the phone and explained they had spoken with the chef who had put the appropriate amount of sauce on and suggested maybe it was absorbed by the rice, next time I should order extra sauce if it isn't enough. As far as customer service goes this was a very disappointing result. Both the employee and the manager were very polite about it but the bottom line was their food was fine and I must be wrong. If this was something I ordered for the first time I wouldn't have known the difference so I wouldn't have complained. I order this EVERY SINGLE TIME and it wasn't right this time. But instead of offering to correct the order I was told the problem was mine since they had done everything correctly. The manager did offer me a free dessert in the future but I don't have any intention of returning. And when I said as much she laughed, thanked me for letting them know about the chicken and then she hung up. I'm more disappointed in the customer service than I was in the dry, bland chicken. Not...

I see the owner responded to me, so I would like to touch base as I can't leave a second review. There was 6 meals ordered and 9 people. We also ordered a $19.99 Calamari and drinks. It's not like we had 9 people ordered 3 meals and tried to take up the majority of your restaurant. Are we realistically not spending enough money for you on a weekday.
I do understand that we are a larger party, so that's why I'm okay with 18%. Charging for hot water or plates is just pure greed. If I use more than my allocated napkin, do you want to add a quarter on there. An extra dish or two is not worth the charge you put on it. You're just looking to catch people unaware to line your own pockets because people don't expect to pay for a dish so we can try a couple of the different options.
I've read the reviews on here and you try to bully people out of their opinions. These are my true comments. As stated before, won't come here and certainly will not recommend you to anyone.
Our family had some of our overseas family here about a week and a half ago. They were very excited to try Greek food and we went a bit further out of our way to this area as this place had high reviews for food. We live in the Delta region, so it's about a 30 minute drive from the Ladner area. The food was very good, but when we got out bill we were shocked.
The restaurant charged $5.00 to share a plate that we paid for and $1.00 for hot water. They also charged 18% for the tip for the large group. The 18% we were more than happy to pay due to the large group, but paying $5.00 for a plate to share is ridiculous as it's not like we're not paying for the meal. We had a party of 9 people and ordered 6 meals, two appetizers, and a couple drinks. The least that we could have been told is that hot water was extra and that sharing would be extra. At that point with the sharing plates, it would almost be on par to just order an extra meal. We even bought a meal to go, so it's not like we were skimping out!
1/5 stars, but the food brought it to 2 stars. The food was delicious, but based on principle will not be...
