Not that great. Food was ok, nothing special. Pasta was quite soggy, seafood was rubbery. Portions were small. Prices were pretty high considering what we got. Waitress didn't seem to care much. Not very warm or welcoming whatsoever. It was a beautiful day, I was hoping for a window seat but we were stuck in the far back right beside the kitchen in a dimly lit area. The rest of the restaurant was empty. Why aren't people sat at a window seat in the open, well lit upper area filled with beautiful natural light instead of in the cramped dark back of the restaurant?
It took a long time to take our order, a long time for food to come, a long time to check on us, and a long time for the bill. The place was almost empty. There were only 2 other tables in use so I have no idea what was taking so long. The waitress only checked on us once and didn't bring out a spoon for the tea we ordered so a knife had to be used to stir it. My most recent visit to Rickys before this was the Chiliwack location. I was very impressed and expected the same here. I was disappointed.
I found the prices to be high. I ordered a side salad with my meal. It was $8! I could see charging $8 for a large full salad that is eaten as a whole meal but this was a side salad to go with my meal and it was pretty small. There was only one crouton and the romaine lettuce wasn't crisp. And a soup was $9. It wasn't even a bowlful, it was a cup!
So add on two entrees at $20 each and two non-alcohol drinks and it came to $80 for dinner for two. I could have gone somewhere much better and classier. I was expecting a dinner under $50. I was even charged for a refill on my mocktail which is supposed to be included according to the menu. I won't be back. If you're going to charge that much the food and service needs to be so much better.
I also want to add that my soup came with a package of crackers. The package was open and one of the two crackers was missing. They obviously recycle the crackers from customer to customer if they aren't used. In this case it was used with one cracker missing and they didn't notice and passed the opened stale remaining...
Read moreI usually really like Ricky's. I have dined at many locations and have found the quality control consistent for most. The Evergreen location is an exception. Shouldn't the food, when presented, resemble what the menu offers? Last night was the last time I will patronize this Ricky's. I ordered one of the schnitzel dinners. It was supposed to come with a hot potato salad which included potatoes, bacon, sour cream and mayonaisse. I asked for the sour cream to be left out. The server seemed perplexed and said it didn't come with sour cream. I told her the menu said it did. It arrived with dried out slices of purple potato, some very tiny white potatoes, cut in half, a tiny smattering of bacon and green onion on a bed of corn. No mayo and why was there corn there when that was not listed in the menu. On top of this, the potatoes were dry, tasteless and luke warm at best. The menu showed something much different. For the schnitzel, I had a choice between chicken or pork. I chose chicken but the texture was not like any chicken I have eaten...solid...chewy...and the flavour was somewhat unpleasant. I didn't know what it was. Also, schnitzel is supposed to be pounded out thin. This was a good 1/4 inch thick. I left quite a bit on my plate and at $18.99 that was a big disappointment. The Veal schnitzel used to be very good...at other locations. The service was okay but not great. The place was not busy. There may have been 6 tables and two servers. My elderly mother asked for her salad and pie to go. Whoever boxed it for her, dressed the salad and never offered any option for the dressing. She would have wanted the salad undressed because the day after it is soggy and limp-unpalatable & wasted. The pie must have been dropped into the box as it wasy broken and looked like it was upside down. This is not the first time I have been disappointed at this particular location. Mom wanted to go there. Even she said she doesn't want to go back. Too bad too because with the ABC Restaurant (down the road) gone Ricky's was a good option. We can drive a little further to a...

Ricky's All Day Grill at Evergreen Mall has been my go-to restaurant for many years due to its tried-and-true homestyle meals. They never fail to cook and deliver the comfort foods that I enjoy.
I want to give a shout-out to Josie and the staff who work there. One evening I called the restaurant to order my usual homestyle turkey dinner, but I was put on hold for a while. Unfortunately, I had to disconnect due to the long wait. Note that this was an unusually long wait, as the staff are usually quick to take a phone order.
After ten minutes, Josie called me back to apologize about the delay, and if I still wanted to place an order for takeout. I thanked her for calling me back in a timely manner, and ordered the meal for pick-up. I picked my order and was greeted by a friendly staff member and Josie. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see a toffee cake in my bag! I immediately called the restaurant again to thank Josie and the staff for their excellent customer service.
I will continue to support Ricky's, particularly this location at Evergreen Mall, because the staff there truly care about their customers. The great service is demonstrated by their gestures, mannerisms, calm tone of voice, and quick response to customer's...
