Unexpectedly amazing! Decided to come here on a Sunday night with some friends. We had never heard of this place other then seeing a random Instagram reel suggestion early 2024. Made no reservations, and we were definitely very under dressed for how luxe this place turned out to be. It's legitimately a fine dining vibe and way too boujee to be in Surrey!! If this place was in Vancouver it would be packed. We understood that the chef's burger ($28) was the signature item people talked about and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Bun was crisp, burger was juicy with incredible beef flavour and it was just on point. They also asked how we would like it so we went for medium rare. It is THAT kind of burger! Also because it was Sunday they had a special on a prime rib roast. Apparently this happens every Sunday. I was told that they have specials most days for off menu items - and I'm not sure why they don't promote it on their website or Instagram. Anyway, it was $29 for an 8oz prime rib with your choice of salad + buttery mash potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. Could not BELIEVE this deal. This steak was juicy, tender and again INCREDIBLE beef flavour. I forget how much their 13oz was but I think they said $39? Just in case you want a larger steak or want to split it! And THEN we also got the Shahi paneer which was cheaper then what's listed online for prices. $23 vs $28! It's still a bit pricey for Indian food IMO but they do "fine dine" it up and have the paneer in more sizable chunks (you need to cut the pieces up). You'd think that it would be rubbery and not have flavour but not at all. The paneer was very soft and not hard at all (almost like a firm tofu texture) and the sauce was on point. Only complaint was that there wasn't enough sauce - we all like it WAY saucier but by the end of sharing prime rib + burger + free bread (amazing) we felt we didn't need the extra calories! Service was great. I can't remember her name but she was very friendly and helpful. She made sure we had enough whatever we needed, and just all around everyone was very pleasant. There was only one oddity in the evening. The fire alarm blinker went off and was flashing in the restaurant with some kind of muffled intercom notification. They explained that because they were attached to the mall, anytime there was an incident there, it would end up triggering their alarm system too. It was kind of hilarious, and they apologized but what can you say - you're in Surrey! This might be a turn off for someone trying to get the full luxe experience, but for us it was just a funny story kind of moment. We really had an amazing time here and definitely will come back! BUT we did discuss about the longevity of something like this being where it is. It's a fine dining restaurant in Surrey and again feels like something you'd find in downtown Vancouver. The restaurant was pretty dead, but to be fair it was Sunday night. We're not sure how they can keep afloat for much longer unless it's packed during the daytime/lunch hours. It's sandwiched next to the mall walmart and a food court + surrey's SFU campus, and the vibe in that area just isn't boujee chic. It's more students and families and grocery shopping. I wouldn't be surprised if it might be a bit intimidating for some people (really it wasn't THAT expensive), because it's just TOO nice and expensive looking. Anyway, great restaurant, hope it sticks around!!

Clear blue Skye? I meant to come by and try this place when it was first opened but for some strange reasons I always thought it was on the other side of King George Hwy (I know it doesn’t matter but to some it does in Surrey lol) However it’s on the SFU campus side of Surrey Central mall, the entrance is located outside the mall. Decided to come here for lunch. Greeted by the host and got seated. The restaurant has that modern and trendy look, mid end appearance. Here were the food I ordered (only lunch menu available); 1. Tomato basil soup. It was probably one of the better tomato soup I had; perfect balance of that creamy tomato taste and texture, not too thick like pasta sauce like some places made it but enough body to hold its taste. And not overly tomatoey. Loved it! 2. Chicken wings (hot buffalo sauce). Hot damn, looks like another one of those dry azz tree branches? NOPE! Fooled me! Light crisp skin with just a right amount of sauce and inside was juicy and hot. I eat a lot of wings and these were actually good! 3. Prosciutto and burrata pizza. Everything was good, perfect amount of each of the ingredients, the crust had a nice crisp outside, but the sauce soaked it at the middle, making it quite soggy.(it’s like on a perfect date and suddenly went limped in the middle). 4. Lobster Cobb salad. Good amount of lobster meat, the amount of sauce was balanced, egg was nicely done. 5. Chef V.P. Burger. Simple looking burger but damn it was well seasoned and tasty. I wished I asked for it medium instead of well done but first time eating here and don’t want no food poisoning myself over a piece of meat. Overall, I actually really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere here. I think I might’ve found myself a restaurant I can frequent more, but let’s see how dinner is first. The food was pretty good overall, I just loved how the ingredients in each dish were so balanced. This shows the love and expertise of the chefs which as a diner, I appreciate. The service was very warm and welcoming from the host to my server. Throughout the course of the meal, my server was quite attentive and always around. As for the atmosphere, I would say it has that mid end presence but comfy casual wear should be okay. (Comfy casual doesn’t mean a speedo and straw woven sandals). I would definitely go back and try their dinner and to see how it is. (Please… be as good as the lunch experience!) For now, a repeat and recommendation by me if their food and service were as I experienced.

I rarely give five-star reviews, but Skye Avenue Kitchen & Lounge truly earned it. From start to finish, everything about this place felt well thought out and genuinely enjoyable. The atmosphere immediately stands out—modern, warm, and inviting. The space has an upscale polish without feeling pretentious, and there’s a relaxed energy that makes it just as fitting for a date night as it is for a casual dinner with friends. Lighting, layout, and music all blend smoothly to create a comfortable yet elevated environment. Service was excellent across the board. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. Everyone seemed confident in their roles and genuinely engaged in making sure guests were taken care of. The food was spot-on. Each dish came out fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. There’s clear care in the kitchen—everything had balance and flavor without unnecessary complexity. From appetizers to mains, it all came together perfectly. The drink list was good overall, though the beer menu was a little limited for my personal taste. Still, that’s more about my pickiness than a fault on their part. The cocktails and other options more than made up for it. One small observation: I noticed a manager on his phone texting in view of customers. It didn’t affect service or my experience in any way, and he wasn’t interacting with our table—it just stood out as something you don’t usually see in a place of this caliber. A minor professionalism note, nothing more. Overall, Skye Avenue Kitchen & Lounge delivered on every front—excellent food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. It’s rare for a place to feel this consistent. A well-deserved five stars from me.

TL;DR Food was pretty good. Whiskey is over priced. Service is lacking.

I was pretty excited when I saw this restaurant on social media since it has some items on the menu that my husband normally loves. I went out of my way to plan a surprise date for tonight and we left disappointed.

The restaurant is styled nicely and they have a wide array of whiskies on the wall. The whisky menu is an extensive binder that breaks down region, type, and colour-coded flavour notes. We found this quite impressive. The whiskies are priced higher compared to other upscale restaurants.

Our server arrived to take our drink order. She was sweet and friendly but seemed inexperienced. My husband ordered a an oz of whisky and the server asked if that was for both of us. We found this odd. I ordered the Cedar Creek Reisling which is hard to find elsewhere. The whiskey arrived and it was the smallest oz we've ever received. For $32, this was quite disappointing.

The complimentary bread was quite tasty. Not a lot of restaurants offer this anymore so it was a nice surprise.

For appetizers, we ordered carpaccio and caesar salad. The carpaccio came with about 5 pretzels. It would have been better with some bread but it was tasty nonetheless. The salad had a lot of dressing but lacked flavour. The croutons in the salad are honestly the best I've ever had but I still wouldn't recommend given the bland dressing.

After the appetizers, the bussers came to clear all of the plates and utensils. For mains, we ordered the arrabbiata and the wagyu ribeye with a side of ratatouille. The arrabbiata and ribeye were delivered to us. We sat for about 5 minutes without utensils before we could flag down a busser to request some. The busser never came back with utensils. We then waited another 5 minutes before our server came by asking what was wrong. We were finally given utensils but by that time our food was room temperature. By the time my husband had finished 3/4 of the ribeye, the ratatouille had still not come out yet. In the end, we had to cancel the order. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a side to be served with the main you ordered it with. Not sure if the order was never punched in or if it was a mistake with the kitchen. The mains that we actually did receive were tasty.

Our server had come to clear our plates and we requested the bill. After 5 minutes the bill had still not arrived but we assumed all of the machines were in use. Our server walked by and smiled at us but didn't mention anything so we began to suspect that she was unaware we were waiting on her. She disappeared for another 5 minutes and when we finally flagged her down she seemed confused that we were waiting on the bill.

Overall, I think this restaurant has potential. The hiring team and training team need to ensure everything is up to par if they are going to market it as an upscale restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant in it's current state. If you intend to give it a try, maybe wait a few months when the servers have...
