Neptune Wonton Noodle — Restaurant in Surrey

Very disappointing. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant for my son's birthday, but wish we had gone elsewhere. We have never had such bland tasteless Chinese food. The wonton and dumpling tossed noodles came with a bowl of broth which we hoped would add flavor to the unappealing taste of the noodles, but it tasted like water. I The 3 wonton and 3 dumplings were ok, but almost indistinguishable and there was nothing in the noodles, but a big chunk of iceberg lettuce on the side. I have never seen my son not finish a bowl of noodles, but he left them aside and didn't even want to take them home.

We ordered the Sauteed Shrimp with Cashew Nuts, but they brought us what must be chicken instead. The cut peas were fresh and crunchy and bright green... very nice. But again there was no flavoring or spice added to this dish. The pieces of chicken were pale tasteless lumps, the cashews seemed to be dumped on top from a bag... the whole dish was bland. As well as completely the wrong menu item.

Again, the Sliced Beef with Ginger and Pineapple was bland and tasteless. There were about 6 chunks of pineapple in the whole dish, and you had to search out the thin slices of ginger which had fallen to the bottom. Other than actually eating a piece of ginger or pineapple, there was no taste of ginger or pineapple to the dish. I don't know how that is possible... they are flavors so easy to add. The beef was tender but bland. The vegetables were at least 1/3 chunks of raw red onion.

The service was good, the tea was very nice, in tall glasses instead of small cups. We were given free bowls of sweet red bean soup for dessert... probably the most tasty part of the meal.

We brought home the leftovers of the cashew dish and beef dish, with the hope of adding some flavor from our cupboards, and left the unappetizing tossed noodles.

Our curiosity is sated and though we walk by often, will never eat here again. Even cheap takeout is much better. Save your money. You couldn't get more bland and disappointing if you tried. Surrey Central...

I always went to Neptune instead of this noodle house and thought maybe I should give it a try. Went there at around 7-8pm when it was not so busy. This place is actually a lot cheaper & more portion compared to the next door which we loved it. They had some of our favourite items from next door so it was easy for us to adopt.

Few days later we went there for dimsum. Fast turnover made less time to wait for sure. Price for dimsum is same as next door - expensive, but good quality.

Place is busy, staffs are not very organized. When chef made food, they just left them on the counter and wasn’t sure what they were doing but they were just sitting there for good 3-5mins for no particular reason. Later on, another staff came to work and start working after she touched her hair and cloths. Then she grabbed spoon (head of course) and scoop (head, again) with no guilt. Not sure if that was adding extra flavour to it.

Waited 40 mins for one of the orders and never arrived. No apology or whatsoever. Had to ask them to take off from bill.

Like to go there at night but not recommended...

Waitresses are super friendly with warm welcome to us when we entered the restaurant. We ordered 2 cuttlefish & Meatballs Noodles Soup, BBQ Pork with Noodle in Soup, Beef & Flat Rice Noodle Black Bean and a tray of egg custard tarts. Total is only $73.41, considered cheap in my opinion.

Portions for those noodle soup are not really big though. Beef & Flat Rice Noodle portion was big becoz it cost $24.98. This dish taste is okay but not great. While their noodle soup's soup base is bland, don't have flavour, but their BBQ pork taste is yummy!

Egg custard tart crust is so crisp crust, felt like melting in your mouth. Tart size is small and taste just decent, nothing special.

Environment is nice and comfy if you seat in the middle of the restaurant, but if you choose to seat at the corner near their kitchen entrance and their counter area, then you will feel a bit messy.

Next time I will try their Dimsum. Saw 2 tables next to me having dimsum. Their dimsum...
