Food and atmosphere were fine; standard for White Spot. Service was where they really fell off. I asked if I could order from the kids' menu as I'm a bariatric patient and can't eat full sized servings. The server didn't seem sure if he could do that (we got the sense he was new to working at this restaurant), so he got his manager. When I asked her if I could do this, explaining that other White Spots allowed me to do this without batting an eye, she came back with, "Which ones?" with very obvious (and very unnecessary) doubt in her voice. I quickly listed off the no fewer than four or five locations that have no issue with me doing this. She said that she'd let me do this, "just this once," and then left. I really don't appreciate this kind of "service". I'm basically explaining that I have a medical condition that prevents me from eating full sized servings and asked for very reasonable and simple accommodations to be made for me. If I were ordering this to go, there would be zero conversation about this. If I said I was allergic to hazelnuts and ordered a dessert with hazelnuts put on top of it, the kitchen would remove the hazelnuts without second thought. If I said I was Celiac, the kitchen would make sure there would be no cross contamination in preparing my food without second thought. This really isn't all that different so why do I get all this attitude?
Add to that, they quite clearly wanted our table to leave after a point by the way they would very pointedly and repeatedly ask if there was anything else we needed or wanted. There were no parties waiting to be seated at the host station, there were no fewer than a half dozen available four tops in our section alone.
So yeah, I definitely won't be making any active steps to return to this White Spot location. I'll continue to go to the other locations, like the North Road location in Burnaby, where they actually value...
Read moreSo I made a reservation for 10 people 2 weeks in advance (I believe that’s enough notice?). Called in a week in advance to confirm if my reservation was in and to see if we could adjust 2 people if needed. They vehemently agreed and assured all would be arranged for. On the morning when I was to welcome my friends at this location, I realized they gave us 1 booth and 2 other tables (not connected or near each other in any manner). Asked them if we could have a connected seating arrangement, they merely shrugged us off and said they didn’t have an extra table to add in between 2 of the tables we were allotted. The manager did see 8 of us fumbling about and left us to actually drag the 2 tables closer to each other to accommodate the party. Also the fact that when I entered, I saw that they had accommodated another party of 10 in another section from ours. I can understand if you’re busy at the time, but having made a reservation so well in advance, i feel like the manager could have been honest enough to let me know he wouldn’t be able to accommodate us than expect us to adjust at the 11th hour in whatever we got. We would have just gone to a different place with better service in that case! I love White Spot and have had great service at other locations; this one just doesn’t cut it, and now I just have a very bad memory of having hosted a brunch...
Read moreHello, we have been coming to this location for years and we always do the carhop service, we have always had great service rain or shine and the food is fantastic, as to why we continue to come here. Tonight that experience changed for us, we pulled up like any other evening at 5:30 pm on a Saturday, we turned our four ways on as to what is required to get your service and we proceeded to wait, we waited ten minutes and hot out as no one was seeming to care to take our order, upon entering the back entrance there as a female employee, she was rude and the extreme opposite of warm “hospitality “ we proceeded to ask why we’re not being servers, the female says” oh we don’t serve in the rain” well that’s a first. It’s lightly raining out, there is no notice on the website nor the business door saying this, so we asked if we were going to be just left sitting out there, as we were expecting the same service we have always received.... bottom line is it was a huge disappointment as the lack of any notice and further more just being left right outside the door, 5’ at most from Door.... shame shame... Will not be going back, we pay for good service, hospitality, and food and well we did not seem To receive any of it.
