Springs Garden Restaurant and Lounge — Restaurant in Swift Current

Reminder to self to never ever ever go to SPRINGS GARDEN again. Went there about a year ago while the meal was okay, the coffee was absolutely terrible. It tasted burnt. When we went to pay, the hostess asked how the meal was and I told him the meal was good but the coffee was terrible and tasted scorched …like the pot had sat on the burner too long. Instead of maybe saying, “Sorry, I'll check into it”, instead he said, “Some people like it strong and some people like it weak”. I told him there's a difference between strong and weak or old and burnt. At the time Cindy and I said we would not go back to SPRINGS GARDENS IN THE SC MALL.

However, against our better judgement, someone asked us to join them for lunch there today, and we thought we would try again. After today’s experience, we will not be back.

First of all we waited about 45 minutes to get our meal. When it came Cindy's pancakes were stone cold. The toast which came with my ham steak and eggs didn’t arrive till I was pretty well done the whole meal. We were never asked what kind of toast we wanted or how we wanted it … I was brought buttered white toast which I never order. They have a breakfast special that includes coffee and goes to 11:30. We arrived at approximately 11:30, told the server we were waiting for someone and asked if that special would still be valid even if we didn’t order till later. We specifically asked if coffee was included and she said yes. When we got our bill we were charged for two coffee. When we went to pay, we told the gentleman behind the till that the server said coffee was included. He said, " It was a new waitress." and “Well if I did that for everybody just took it off we wouldn't make any money” or something to that effect proceeded to pull out the menu, pointing to the breakfast specials and rudely said, “If you had read this you would see it ends at 11:30”. I told him we had read that and asked the server and she said it would still be okay

The person we went there with ordered a breakfast but did not have coffee. When the server brought the bill it was $9.98, yet when she paid for the meal it was $12.31. She asked why it was more and he said the entry in his till showed coffee. He did a calculation and gave her $1.25 back in cash. She should have received $2.10 plus taxes so was short-changed $1.08.

It is not the amount of money that is the issue. It’s being told one thing and being charged a completely different amount. There was no apology for the miscommunication, simply pay the price and be done with it, and of course that it was a new waitress. That is not good customer service, I told the gentleman if it is at all possible, I will...

UPDATE: It really depends on who serves you!! Went in again with a friend who wanted to see for himself and we were singled out and given the best service I've ever gotten there and that was with the gentleman who usually seats you!

ORIGINAL POST: Some of the worst service available in Swift Current. Three people at the table and only settings for two and at no point did we receive a 3rd set. We were not checked on even once so that we could ask for cutlery! After asking for my order she said it wrong back to me and I corrected her. I received a wrong order anyway. Again she never came back for me to be able to mention this. At time to pay I was gonna leave a small tip for the rest of the staff that has to be paid out. When I looked for the tip option there was none so I cancelled the order and made her reenter it. Now the tip option was there and the total less than previously - she tried to help herself to a tip!!!!! I left leaving no tip. She can tip out the kitchen on her own dime. Do NOT recommend...

Gluten Free Fish & Chips, excellent. Luann has celiac and we travel frequently, (on our way from Alberta to NB, overnight in Swift Current) finding a restaurant with a reasonable Gluten Free selection is challenging. This one stands out with their separate GF menu. I couldn't believe my eyes, gluten free fish (haddock) & chips, sure enough, and the two piece was a significant meal and very reasonable price. Lightly battered, deep fried to golden brown and crispy. You will love it. Dave had the regular fish & chips and it was equally delicious, same price, no up-charging on the Gluten Free. Service was courteous and attentive....
