First time we have been to Mongo's. Very helpful staff who took us over to the soup & salad area and to all of the veggies, meats, noodles, pasta, sauces, & spices. There are little cards that tell you what sauces to choose to get the recipe you are looking for. We chose 1 bowl plus 1 trip to soup & salad bar. There was coleslaw, crab salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, broccoli salad, mixed lettuce, romaine, spinach plus 6 dressings. Bacon bits, parmesan cheese, croutons, sunflower seeds, onions, green & black olives, beet slices, mixed fruit salad, peppers, sprouts, & cucumbers plus 2 types of soup. There was every kind of vegetable you could think of for stir fry choices. Zucchini, tofu, carrots, peppers, celery, sprouts, kale , tofu, bok choy, rice noodles, salmon, crab and calamari, ham, sausage, ground sausage, pork, beef, chicken. Lots of sauces hot honey garlic, orange pineapple, tao, chinese stir fry, sweet and sour, garlic,. There were more I can't remember. Then canola or sesame oil. They reccomend one scoop of oil. Then about 8 powdered spices. Then you step up to the counter where everything you have piled on your bowl is going to be stir fried. Then there are more choices of things to add. 3 kinds of rice, 2 kinds of a wrap add an egg, Then there are more toppings if you so choose. Sesame seeds, peanuts, hot sauce, sirachia sauce, and teriyaki. They were very good about our friend...
Read moreWe have eaten here before and the food is always good. Unfortunately I had a run in with a bigoted, racist, hurtful female customer hear. I am non binary identifying and was dressed female this day. During our meal I had to use the washroom. While using the female washroom I was accosted by a female patron who was using the washroom with her very young daughter. She started yelling at me that I could not be it that washroom and that I was a pervert. And used a few other terms I won't write hear. I tried explaining to her that as I was identifying female I was well with in my right to use the washroom I was in. Long story short she was a bigot and horrible role model for her young daughter. I left feeling hurt and when I returned to the table and my partner we paid the bill and left. I used to come hear about once a month but since this incident I have not been able to go back. Though it was no fault of the the staff and I did not tell them of the incident after it happened. I do feel the staff should have come checked the washrooms as this woman was being quit loud and vocal that I am sure could be heard in the restaraunt. Very unfortunate incident to happen in the modern times we live in. Sucks that due to one person's poor understanding of gender identity and expression that I feel I have to avoid a place I enjoy because of the bad memories this one person has made for me and I associate...
Read moreWe had been to this restaurant once about 3 years ago and enjoyed our meal then so back in T-bay tried it again. The waitress was confusing showing us all the options for toppings, it was a bit overwhelming but nice to have all that selection available. I didn't care for the small tiny little microscopic plate they give you to pile it on so felt my portion didn't fill my appetite. I was worried about spilling food on the floor. I did see a kid after me though while my smallish portion was frying with a plate stacked about a foot higher then the bowl managing to balance it, I couldn't believe it and that somebody could eat that much in one sitting, maN vs food. The guy who fried my food was not too careful either and the few jalapeno peppers I placed on top got swiped to the underside of the grill somehow instead of making it to my one bowl. I don't like the sauces so close together either, the other customers are not careful spooning them and they get mixed up. Good thing they have a public coughing/sneeze guard too. I also don't like raw meat sitting out in a buffet for periods of time like that, I had a stomach issue at another Mongolian style restaurant because of this. I had enough of this type...
