Party of 3 - showed up at 7:15 PM on November 22nd for dinner. Was told to sit wherever we’d like by the host, and did. After that the server never approached us or even brought a menu until just after 7:35. It wasn’t super busy for a Friday night and they had a bunch of staff congregated behind the bar. We wasted no time ordering but still didn’t get food until 9 pm. Service was poor and slow, maybe some kind of private event happening in the back?
Drinks were slow but good. Table ordered mussels, sliders, pear salad.
Sliders were good. Juicy and flavourful.
Pear salad had so much sauce it filled 1/4 of the bowl at the bottom and was extremely soggy.
Mussels came bone dry with 4-5 of them closed and clearly they had gone bad from the smell.
The server was made aware of this, they took the mussels and doused them in wine/garlic but overall this did little to improve the dish.
When we were here earlier this year the mussels came in a bowl with a white sauce, the server insisted that they had not changed and always been like that despite us showing him a photo of them. He just shrugged and walked away.
Very poor experience for a place we used to love. Overall for the price and value I would recommend trying somewhere else if you’re thinking about stopping here. We left over half the food on the plate due to its poor quality.
Edit: despite the owners response below, the time stamped chit from order taken to food delivered is hardly a reflection of how long the process was. We had time at the table to discuss going elsewhere before a server ever presented themselves to us with menus and water. It was definitely not a few minutes as indicated. For a company willing to admit shortcomings, you do like to manipulate the narrative rather than taking feedback and being constrictive with it and for that reason I’ll...
Read more0 stars for the industry tonight. We arrived around 6:45pm and did not leave until 9:30pm. Pathetic when all we ordered were apps and pizzas. When we walked in, we were only given drink menus. About 15 minutes later someone finally came to ask for drinks. I mentioned their Instagram highlight that says Happy Hour after 7PM (which it already was), and the server said she “didn’t know what I was talking about” and would check. Ten minutes later she returned and said “we don’t have happy hour anymore,” despite it still being advertised on their page.
At this point we still did not have food menus. I had to ask specifically for them, and only then did she hand them over while also telling us “it will be slow because we’re busy.” There were four other tables in the entire restaurant.
Three of us ordered a bottle of Jackson-Triggs Sauvignon Blanc to share. Eventually our bruschetta tower and pizzas came. The food was borderline freezer-food quality and honestly not good. We were given no plates or cutlery.
Then the bills came and we were charged for a bottle of Kim Crawford instead of the Jackson-Triggs we ordered. When I pointed this out, the server insisted Kim Crawford is “the sauvignon blanc we asked for.” I literally picked up the bottle on our table and showed the menu. It was not Kim Crawford. Her response was “It is complicated splitting the bill in three so be grateful.” Be grateful? For what — the overcharge, the poor service, or the bad food?
We then had to wait another 20 minutes for the refund for the wine we never ordered. Overall: misleading advertising, slow and dismissive service, low-quality food, and then being overcharged and spoken to disrespectfully. Easily one of the worst dining...
Read moreWent to The Industry for Sunday brunch with my softball team. We were 1 of 3 tables in the whole restaurant. Wait times for drinks and food orders were long. Service was minimal. Food started coming out slowly, 1/3 of the team ate first, then slowly the other 2/3 came out. Some members of our group never received their food until after everyone was finished. My order was eggs Benedict, breakfast potatoes + extra side of sausage. The breakfast potatoes were underdone and not good at all. They seemed to be rationing their food as the portions were small. Barely any hollandaise sauce. There was no quality check from our server, which I was waiting for in order to send back the potatoes. No communication/apologies from staff as to the chaos of our tables order. Received our bill with an automatic 18% gratuity on the bill and was charged for sausage I never received. The physical atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and would be a nice place to try drinks in the evening. It is unfortunate that the service and quality of food was so poor that I will not be going back. I enjoy trying local bars + restaurants and usually can give them the benefit of the doubt; the manager stated it was due to us being a large table, but we were the only table in The Industry by the time the food was coming out. Overall this experience can be summed up to poor management and...
