Whenever roadtripping, I try to sample local sandwich shops because sandwiches make the best thing to eat when on the road. My third time driving thru Thunder Bay from Calgary. I wanted to try something different. Spotted on a site about this local pastry. I was intrigued - the pink icing convinced me. Didn’t realize it was next to a deli (major win). Proceeded to get a ham & cheese sandwich. It was actually really good. Lots of fresh vegetables and good amount of meat and cheese. Then of course I tried the Persian for dessert. The pastry was soft and delectable. Not overly sweetened but it was just right. The icing was not too shabby either. Was expecting a bit more fruity taste to it. I’d give it 4.85/5. I will swing by again the next time I am in town. I can not go through Thunder Bay and miss this little gem of a bakery slash delicatessen. Don’t miss out!

While spending several days in Thunder bay I did a search on local specialties, all the buzz was over the Persian, a cinnamon roll with pink icing. So we went to The Persian Man Bakery and purchased a few to see what all the fuss was about, and unfortunately we're disappointed. A Persian is basically a cinnamon roll style donut, deep fried, ours had very little cinnamon between the layers and had a pink icing that resembled a cream cheese frosting with maybe a hint of raspberry. Our examples, were ok, not bad , but unimpressive, and average at best. This may be unique here , but at home we could go to any bakery and get a similar product, but with multiple icing choices like: vanilla, chocolate, cream cheese, peanut butter, maple .... sorry.

Went here when visiting the area in June. The service wasn't terribly friendly. My first time there so I had questions. No smile, very short with her answers. It seemed as though she wasn't having the best day. So, I got the Persian but the orange color one as she said it was the same flavor as the pink but a percentage went to a special cause I can't remember what. Also tried some other sweets. I may have gotten more if I didn't feel like I was putting her out. Either way, the pastries were good. Also bought some bread. Not sure I'd go back though. She treated the next customer the same way. But they do offer lunch and there is ample seating inside. So, hopefully your experience is better than mine.

I am originally from Fort William. Moved away several years ago but have returned to visit family over the years. The last time I had returned to T Bay was just before the COVID 19 virus deal. It was in the winter and T Bay had just received a big snow storm. I still had to check if The Persian Man was open before I left for home. I live in the USA. Well, to my delight they were open and I ordered two dozen to bring home. I did have to have one there and a coffee. It was about -10F and the owner was amazed that I would have stopped in to get my Persian fix! That’s how good they are. I remember Bennett’s Bakery years ago and even my dad had worked there. I tried to explain to friends in the States about Persians and they just didn’t get it…..until they tried one I had brought home. I would slice one in half, butter them and fry them in a pan till golden brown. Then smother them with the icing! Yum! They also freeze very well but never last very long. I have a tee-shirt from there and people always ask about what a Persian is! All I say is “You have to have...

While visiting the city after moving away a year ago. I walked into Persian Man Balmoral the afternoon August 18th. and found it an unwelcome experience for the first time. The one girl was friendly and helpful and even called other stores to see if they had some. She only had one 12 pack which I bought via debit. The redhead showed her the receipt and mumble something to her as I was collecting my stuff to leave. I went to the Tungsten store to get the other 2 packs, and when paying debit noticed and commented that there wasn't a "Tip page" on this machine and was informed "we don't don't do that here" to which I commented "well Balmoral does". Although I didn't use the tip option at Balmoral I personally think Red was commenting on it. Aside from that the Persians were a real treat for friends after I got back from my funeral trip. Love the product,...
