The Sweet North — Restaurant in Thunder Bay

Food safety questionable, have encountered cross contamination twice and I am not here frequently. Staff do not appear to take allergen contamination seriously. Kind enough people, first time this occurred I was blamed and not believed, and I received a refund the second time with a small apology. I am disappointed in the lack of care this popular local business takes for its quality of product. The manager let me know “it was probably chocolate” on my food that did not contain chocolate.. I was excited to try The Sweet North Bakery. Unfortunately, it was an underwhelming experience. Upon entering the store the counter staff told me to wait. He did not say hello. I was not in a rush and did not mind waiting but i thought he was rude. When he did wait on me he could not keep the two cookie order straight though store and drive thru were quiet. The situation worsened when a second employee became involved. He kept programming the point of sale device incorrectly and after the 4th attempt said it was my fault and my card was wrong, afterwhich the sale went through. I wish I had left without the product. They treat everyone differently here... but they treated me with no good energy as to others. I'm Native and I like to go to places like this for treats but the the front person is NEVER WELCOMING to me as I see elders and white people going in with a nice Courtesy and get welcomed and get told they can seat anywhere but when it's me they never tell me their deals or what's fresh. Always giving me the leftovers and always act like I can't afford even my friend told me to not go there anymore but they are sweets that are very good but the worker in the front and the baker is not very kind to people or color.
