I went as a treat for a bday meal and was craving some nice seafood, and previous meals have always been so good!
My partner and I both Ordered the fisherman’s platter (scallops, jumbo shrimp and pickerel with rice) the pickerel and shrimp were delicious and perfectly cooked but it was downhill from there.
The rice I was served felt mushy, old and was not edible. The scallops, which are my favorite when dinning out, were so over cooked it was like chewing gum. My partner ate his but noted they were terrible as well. I cut one in half and you could see it was previously cooked, as though I got the lunch rush’s leftovers. It’s disappointing when you’re paying $60 a plate.
I wasn’t impressed when I brought this to the staff’s attention and there was no offer to somehow make it right. Just “okay” I’ll tell the “chef”. When I peeked in the kitchen while paying I saw a bunch of kids snickering.
I should have just gotten the mashed potatoes because they’re always really good. Or stuck with what I know is always fresh which is their signature Fish and Chips. Again I’ll say, that dish is always A+.
Paid the $150 and left but still irked that I didn’t get fresh and delicious, just disappointment and sadness. Lol. Sounds over the top but you know when you’re reeaaalllyy craving that one thing and then you go out to a nice place and it doesn't scratch that itch? Plus it was my birthday!! I don’t feel like I should say “make those scallops fresh please”, it’s implied when you go to a fine dinning restaurant but oh well. I’ll stick to making them myself from home, instead of paying for rubber medallions like a chump.
Two stars because I haven’t dinned out since the pandemic and finally went out on an occasion, expecting exceptional and received mediocre, and no accountability when I complained just told me I was...
Read moreWe arrived at 4:30 since It was my moms birthday and she loves the Fishbowl. I am not a fan of seafood but walking in the special was chicken parmigiana and lime chicken. Was happy to see we’d have something delicious on the menu. My husband and I ordered the chicken parmigiana but the waitress told us they only had one piece of chicken parmigiana and one piece of lime chicken left. How strange since we were the first people in the restaurant and that was the special. My husband took the only chicken parmigiana so the Waitress suggested the lime chicken for me. Order arrived cold and the chicken parmigiana was delicious but the lime chicken was disgusting. It tasted like lime only, no spices just lime. When the waitress came to ask us how are food was I told her it wasn’t good and could not eat it since the lime taste was too strong and her reply is what did you think you were getting, it like chicken! I thought I was getting chicken with spices and a bit of lime not drenched in lime and no other flavour. Paid $30 for a special that I did not eat. One piece of cold carrot and one piece of cold broccoli and 2 scoops of cold mashed potatoes. Can tell you I will never be back… too bad because the even though I am not a fan of seafood had they not lied about only having one piece chicken parmigiana this review would have been a whole lot better. Fun fact: the chicken parmigiana was still listed on the board as a special when I walked out… very...
Read moreDo not order the lobster ravioli. (Unless hopefully they have removed it by now)
I went here 2 years ago when visiting the greater cochrane district for a few months. My experience left such a bad taste that I decided to finally share my thoughts. The first time I tried going here, the hours said open but they were closed. So we had to go another day. The lobster ravioli looked beautiful, but tasted horrendous. The sauce was fishy, broken, not well tasting and was way too salty. The lobster inside was cold and tasted like it came from a can. While eating I removed what could only be described as a piece of plastic from the ravioli, so maybe the ravioli comes frozen in a bag I’m guessing. Waste of like 22 bucks. My boyfriend had the muscles and he said they were sandy. Service was decent but it took a while to refill our glasses when they were clearly empty for a while (especially after the super salty sauce!), Food took very long to come out and there were only 2 tables other than ours in the whole place. After I took home the ravioli, I tried eating it to no avail and had to throw it out. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the alcoholic drinks I had while waiting were pretty good, the caesar salad was good and so was my boyfriends pasta, just not the seafood...
