I’ve visited your store a few times, and unfortunately, my experiences have been consistently disappointing. The first time, I placed a large order for a special occasion, and the quality did not meet expectations. For my daughter’s wedding, I ordered several kilos of baklava. Thankfully, my guests enjoyed it, many of them were trying baklava for the first time. However, as a Lebanese woman who knows what fresh baklava should taste like, I could tell that some of it was stale. That was very disheartening, especially for such an important event. I gave your store another chance on a few occasions, but I was still not satisfied. Some of the products I purchased were quite small in portion, and the quality remained inconsistent. This week, I visited again and picked up a few items. One of them was Halawet el Jibin. The first piece was delicious, but the second had a sour taste in the cream, something that usually indicates it was either old or had been mixed with a previously refrigerated batch. I had stored everything in a cooler in the car, so temperature control wasn't the issue. I also bought Knafeh b’Jibin, and I have to say, whatever that was, it wasn’t authentic knafeh b’jibin. It lacked the flavor and texture, that make this dish what it is. Lastly, I have to mention the overpowering scent of the cleaning spray used in your store. This isn’t just an issue with your location, but with all your locations. My entire order smelled like strong, cheap perfume. When it comes to Mediterranean sweets, the aroma is just as important as the taste; real butter, rose water, orange blossom. These are the signature scents and flavors that define the experience, and none of them were present in your food. All I could smell was the cleaning product, which completely ruined the sensory experience. Please consider using more natural alternatives like white vinegar or natural citrus waters to clean, something that complements, rather than masks, the aroma of your food. I was in a rush and didn’t have many options, which is the only reason I completed the purchase. But I’m sorry to say this will be my last visit. You’ve lost a customer, and I won’t be returning to any of...

I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my entire life at crown Pastry on Lawrence Avenue and Warden in Scarborough. I visited the store on Sunday, may 11th around 11:30 AM, hoping to buy a pastry as a gift — instead, I was met with rudeness, judgment, and complete disregard for basic decency.

One of the employees, a hijabi girl wearing a white hijab, treated me in a way that was outright disrespectful. It was clear she assumed I couldn’t speak Arabic, and because I appeared to be a foreigner, she acted as though I wasn’t worth her time. She had a nasty attitude when we asked for help and refused to assist us even though she wasn’t busy. I heard her telling her coworkers that she didn’t want to serve us at all. It was beyond frustrating and frankly humiliating — no one deserves to be treated like that, especially when you’re just trying to make a simple purchase.

To be clear, we weren’t expecting anything for free — we were happy to pay for the strawberry chocolate bar we asked for, even if it required a few minutes to prepare. But the way we were treated made it feel like we were a burden, like it was some kind of charity case. That’s not hospitality, that’s plain disrespect.

To be fair, there was a guy with blue eyes who was quiet and polite, and a tall Muslim woman who was kind and helpful to other customers — but the behavior of that one girl ruined the entire experience.

It’s really disappointing because the pastries might be good, but no one should have to deal with such poor treatment. If only their staff had as much quality as their food. We all have personal problems, but it’s no excuse to take it out on customers.

I will never return to this location again, and I will absolutely not recommend it to anyone I know. No one deserves to be treated...

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Strawberry Cake S42 and several other offerings from this bakery, and I must say the experience was absolutely delightful!

The Strawberry Cake S42 was the clear standout - a perfect balance of fresh strawberry flavor with light, fluffy layers that simply melted in my mouth. The sweetness was perfectly calibrated, not overwhelming but perfectly satisfying.

The Plissable Cake S42 with Black Forest Cake S32 combination offered a wonderful textural experience, with the plissable layers providing an interesting contrast to the rich chocolate and cherry notes of the Black Forest.

I also sampled several variations of the Pumping Cake (both S42 and S32 versions) paired with the Closestine Cake S32. These combinations showcased the bakery's versatility, with each cake maintaining its distinct character while complementing its pairing beautifully.

What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service from Ahmad, Sana and Mustafa who was incredibly nice, polite, and knowledgeable. He patiently explained each cake's characteristics and helped guide my selection with genuine warmth and expertise. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made the visit truly memorable.

The quality of ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation was elegant yet approachable. Whether you're a casual cake enthusiast or a serious dessert connoisseur, this establishment delivers on all fronts.

Highly recommended for anyone seeking quality baked goods served with outstanding customer care. I'll definitely be returning to try more of their creations, and I particularly look forward to interacting with Ahmad again - his service truly sets this place apart!

Crown Pastries is hands down one of the best places in town if you’re looking for authentic Middle Eastern sweets, and my recent visit was made even more memorable thanks to Abed. From the moment I walked in, Abed’s warm hospitality set the tone for the entire experience. He welcomed me with a big smile, made sure I felt comfortable, and was attentive throughout the process. It’s rare these days to come across someone who genuinely cares about every customer’s experience, but Abed truly embodies that spirit. The desserts themselves were absolutely delightful. The baklava was perfectly flaky and rich, the kunafa was fresh, cheesy, and beautifully balanced in sweetness, and the wide variety of Syrian desserts on display made it difficult to choose just one. Each bite tasted like a piece of tradition, crafted with skill and authenticity. What stood out to me was not only the quality of the food but also the warmth of the service. It’s because of Abed’s kindness and professionalism that I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you, brother, for making my visit so enjoyable. If you’re craving authentic Syrian sweets with top-notch hospitality, Crown Pastries is the place to be.

I was ecstatic when I first noticed their ad on the wall of Pharmasave and was in awe on the amount of pistachios that seemed to be in their baklava. This got me curious so I went there with my dad and was delighted to see the variety of baklava, cookies, Turkish delight, and cake that they served. The interior of the store was pretty as well. I was hesitant to ask for samples as I wasn’t sure not if it was permitted so next time I’ll take that into account when coming back there. We got a few baklavas, rose and pistachio Turkish delights, and a sprinkled balled cake for my brother. When we tried them at home, it matched our expectations that it wasn’t too sweet compared to most baklavas being sold in other stores. It was packed with the adequate amount of pistachios and nuts! In a small plastic cl stained, for 12 pieces of baklava costed around $13. (UPDATE: $17 baklava in a small box costed $25) The only disappointment was the sprinkled chocolate cake as the taste reminded me of mold or moss. Not sure if it was the nuts or the flavour was meant to be that way, but I wouldn’t recommend it. All in all, grateful that I tried their pastries! Will visit again.
