Narcos Tacos – A Disappointing First Visit

We’ve been driving by Narcos Tacos for over a year, and my family was genuinely excited to finally try it. My daughter absolutely loves birria tacos, so she was thrilled to have a new spot close to home. I was looking forward to a carne asada burrito bowl, and my niece was excited to try their shrimp tacos.

First impressions — the place was clean, which is always a plus, and the service was… okay. Though the girl didn’t call us when the food was ready. Nothing remarkable, but nothing terrible either.

Unfortunately, my experience with the burrito bowl was a major letdown. The rice and carne asada were extremely cold and overwhelmingly salty. When I brought this to the cashier’s attention, her explanation was that they layer the rice at the bottom and fresh veggies on top, which “makes it cold.” That didn’t sit right with me — carne asada is not supposed to be cold. Her solution? To warm it up… a burrito bowl with lettuce and tomatoes? That wasn’t going to work. The bowl was inedible, and we left it untouched.

The birria tacos — my daughter only had two, which was unusual for her, and I suspect she found them a bit salty as well, even though she said they were “okay.” We’d tried a different place last month where she devoured the birria tacos, so that was telling.

The highlight of the meal was the shrimp tacos — they were actually tasty, fresh, and well-seasoned. I’ll give credit where it’s due.

Overall, I like to be fair with my reviews, knowing how important they are for restaurants. But honestly, I wouldn’t recommend Narcos Tacos, at least not for the carne asada burrito bowl. It just didn’t feel like authentic Mexican food. That said, if you’re feeling adventurous, maybe give it a shot — just know you might be taking a bit of a risk.

Went to Narcos Tacos recently. I discovered that they did an expansion to allow for more seating which came out quite nice. The time is about 4:50pm on a Monday afternoon. I walked in, there's no customers present except myself. A lady is in the kitchen prep area, looked at me and continued prepping the food. I'm waiting to to acknowledged and served in which she didn't think that the immediate customer was priority and continued prepping the food. I suddenly asked "If I should come back?" In which the woman finally stated that she would be with me in a moment. The woman subsequently attended to me as I placed my order. I ordered "2" Tacos . . One beef and One chicken with "NO CILANTRO" When my order was ready, I noticed that both Tacos had "Cilantro" I immediately brought it to the woman's attention as she accepted responsibility for her screw up , subsequently discarded the 2 Taco and commenced to make the order all over again. When the Tacos arrived, I had the beef Taco first. The quality had tapered off as the beef was fatty with bristle that was "CHEWY" as the day is long ! Not good!!! The chicken Taco was better but had "Onion Overload" For the most part, the expansion was nice , but the Tacos & Service sucked ! I won't be going back...
