It's been nearly 15 years since my last trip to Duff's in Toronto. ...so long ago, in fact, I think only the Bayview location was open.
Went on a Monday and it wasn't terribly busy; I would imagine on Tuesday's (2-for-1) wing night, the place would be hopping.
Service was brisk...wait time from seating to food was maybe 20 minutes. Our order was a little off (we ordered two pounds of wings and a small pitcher of beer, receiving instead, "the special" which included a $6 basket of fries---in fairness, the fries (when hot) are delicious ).
We ordered a pound of "hot," and a pound of "super hot," to be honest, there really wasn't a whole lot of heat difference between the two. Wings were of good size; not the usual "pigeon" sized wings you see at most places. Just enough meat-to-sauce ratio!
We DO like our wings hot, and the "super hot" was just about right to eat if you're ravenous and don't want a break between bites to let the heat cool off.
We ordered a pound of "Armageddon" wings to take home; not crazy spicy.....just enough to slow you down between wings and the delicious dill sauce gives just enough cooling to take the edge off. I don't think the recipe for Armageddon wings has changed since the last time I ate them. Don't be shy; they won't kill you, even if you might not be a chilihead!
Skip the blue cheese dip and go for the dill...it's really very good. It's not bad for dipping French fries either if you like dill pickle flavoured potato chips!
We only rated 4/5 because the Armageddon wings should have given us...
Read moreI've been a HUGE fan of Duff's Wings ever since my boyfriend introduced me to them 4 years ago on our 4th date lol. I've always been a fan of wings that are crispy. Unlike most wing places, Duff's wings don't have any of that soggy battered skin. They are perfectly crisp and even taste fine on their own even without any sauce. I personally like my wings naked and without sauce (I simply like to dip them in ranch - makes me feel a little healthy about eating wings lol). On the other hand, my boyfriend likes trying all of the different flavours that Duff's offers. He really enjoys the fact that he could pick his wing "spice level."
Service: The service at this Duff's location is pretty average. The wings usually arrive quickly and the servers usually check in on us a few times throughout our meal during most of our experiences here.
Price: The wings are pretty average in price for wings IMO (1 lb / 1 flavour = $12.50). I really like the fact that Duff's offers a "Tuesday Night Special" where 1 lb of wings is $8.75 from 5:00pm until close...but you need to purchase a beverage to get this deal which does not end up saving you TOO much (I usually get a non-alcoholic drink since its cheaper). I wish they offered more deals throughout the week :(
Overall, Duff's (and Crown and Dragon) offer the BEST wings that I've ever had in Toronto. I just wish there were more Duff's locations...
Read moreOverall Amazing Experience! My friend and i were deciding on a place to eat and it was taking forever! Eventually he suggested Duffs Wings but I was a little iffy about it. I thought he was going to order wings as one would from a wing joint but when we were ordering on the phone he threw a curveball at me and ordered Buffalo chicken fingers. I was taken back to say the least. Scrambling to find something else, because I didn’t want to be the only guy eating wings solo, I ordered what is a fairly consistent meal across the board, a chicken Caesar wrap. They said ok it’ll be ready in 15 minutes! We hopped in the car and took the 8 minute drive with a pit in my stomach thinking maybe I ordered the wrong thing, filled with uncertainty! We arrived on queue in 8 minutes and to my surprise, the food was already ready! We get back home and I dig in! The wrap was made to perfection with just the right amount of dressing and the fries cooked to perfection! I will forsure go back and next time not stick up my nose but actually suggest it to my peers! 10/10 everyone...
