I had high hopes for this restaurant, since on Skip The Dishes, they were rated pretty high. Guess I should have looked for their Google reviews before placing my order. I had ordered the Szechuan noodles, Szechuan shrimp, deep fried chicken wings, and the Beef Ho Fan noodles.

The Szechuan noodles were probably the best dish of them all, and that's really pushing it for me saying that. It wasn't as oily as the other dishes, the flavour of it was actually decent.

The chicken wings were okay. A little small and on the dry side, but nothing horrible. Standard chicken wings.

The Szechuan shrimp was such a let down. I was craving shrimp so bad and I caved in and ordered this. Big mistake. First of all, the chefs at the restaurant think they are slick. They pile mounds of vegetables and sauce over the shrimp, to make it seem like they gave you plenty of shrimp, when they KNOW they didn't. There were only like 7 pieces of shrimp in that container. And way too many vegetables for us to consume. If I wanted a container of vegetables, I would have looked specifically for this. The shrimp dish is expensive and I would expect to receive a lot of shrimp for that price. The meal was just too saucy and me having to dive in with my fork, looking for shrimp was unbelievable. I wouldn't order it again. And on top of that, when I was able to try the shrimp, it wasn't even good!!! There was nothing special about it.

By far the biggest upset of my order was the Beef Ho Fan Noodles. I bought this specifically for my fiance, since he loves those thick noodles. What a LETDOWN, lemme tell you. Upon opening the container, all we saw was beef and vegetables swimming in oil. We literally had to, once again, use our forks to dig in to the bottom of the container to find the actual noodles. See, the thing is friends, is that the portions in the general sense are good, but when you look at each individual meal, the portions are actually horrendous. It's like what am I actually paying for? The Ho Fan noodles were nearly inedible, due to all the oil in it. We actually had to drain some oil out of the container so that we could feel good enough to eat it, but that really didn't help.

We could have got a small, empty bottle and filled it with excess oil they put in our meals. That's how bad it was. Ho Fan Noodles took the cake for the oiliest meal we've ever consumed. We couldn't even finish it. We had to throw everything in the garbage and couldn't even feed our daughters any of it. That's how bad it was. Furthermore, their food is way too overpriced. I pretty spent 56 dollars on all the meals I just mentioned, and like I said, most of it was wasted, so that was pretty upsetting. If the chefs would cook with less oil, it would have been better. But... I don't see that happening any time soon. I don't know how their soups or other meals are, but my fiance begged me not to make him eat Chinese food again, since it makes him sick for hours and hours, and dozens of toilet trips (TMI, SORRY) but this could help some of you.

The price is not fair, the oil is out of this world ridiculous, the portions will appear plentiful but you will quickly come to realize that this is not the case. There are so many things they need to improve on. Make sure if you do order from this place, have someone chip in with you for the meals. Because it's going to be expensive and if you and your family end up not liking it, it's not like you spent & wasted 60 dollars all from your pocket. Morbid, I know. But be wary...

I love this place I drive all the way from Mississauga to get the KEN KEN chicken.

I gave this review years ago!!

I haven’t visited this restaurant in over two years, so when I was in the area, I decided to pick up dinner for my family. I ordered vegetable fried rice, chicken wings with noodles, and chicken balls. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the quality. The rice was greasy, the chicken wings were overly salty, and the chicken balls were dry. To make matters worse, I received the wrong noodles. None of us could bring ourselves to eat the food, and I ended up wasting $65 on a meal no one wanted.

When I called to provide feedback, I wasn’t asking for a refund—just sharing my experience in hopes that it would be taken seriously. Unfortunately, the person I spoke with belittled me and responded in a completely unprofessional manner, suggesting that if I wasn’t happy, I should go somewhere else. I’m still in shock over this response. I don’t believe anyone should be treated this way, especially when offering constructive feedback. I will be taking this further because this kind of customer service is...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Truly Outstanding Service, Kindness, and Exceptional Food.

I’m truly grateful for the wonderful experience I had at this restaurant. I cancelled my Uber Eats order immediately after placing it because the delivery address was incorrect. Despite cancelling right away, Uber still charged my credit card and made no effort to refund the payment. I contacted the restaurant directly and spoke with Dae from Chinese Gourmet Express. I was honestly blown away by his kindness and professionalism. He offered two options: either to refund me via e-transfer (minus the Uber service charge), or to personally remake and deliver the same order to the correct address. That level of care, generosity, and customer service is incredibly rare. Dae went above and beyond to make things right even though the issue was not the restaurant’s fault. And the food absolutely exceptional. Fresh, flavorful, and made with real quality it exceeded all expectations. Thank you, Dae, for turning a frustrating situation into a truly positive experience. You’ve earned my loyalty, and I’ll be highly recommending Chinese Gourmet Express to...

This restaurant has been a go-to place over the years when I used to work in the area. I even recommended this restaurant to hotel guests who were looking for some good food during late nights. The menu is great, whether to go or dine in. Upon entering, there’s not a single person dining or ordering. However, there’s a line up of take out food waiting for pick up. I guess most people preferred to eat at home. I browsed the menu and I ordered the young chow fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and tofu with broccoli. The cashier sounded a little bit impatient with me when I tried to clarify my order. He was not very respectful and tried to rush me to make up my mind. He even pointed out the menu a few times to emphasize what he wanted me to say. Overall, I got my food, paid it and left. This satisfied my Chinese food cravings tonight.

This is the 2nd time I've ordered from them about an hour before they close. Food arrived in 10 minutes, and the driver demanded a tip. When I opened my order the lemon chicken had been deep fried more than once. The lemon chicken smelled terrible and the taste was disgusting. It was so hard I had to cut it with scissors to give the few softer pieces to my chihuahua. The Shanghai noodles were mushy and had no sauce and they tasted strange too. Both my dog and I got food poisoning. I can believe they send out orders for food that should have gone in the garbage. Then when I complained they said they would give me a credit, but I would have to order Lemon Chicken. I told them I would never eat that ever again. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Huge portions and great food...except. l usually get noodle dishes such as the Spicy Thai Noodles. Not that spicy, but you can ask them to kick it up a notch. Delicious and too much to eat. But this time l had a rice dish. Only complaining about the white rice. It was inedible. Very dry and undercooked. Had to revive it by taking it home, killing it with butter, adding water and microwaving...then it was good. Could have been a one off, but be wary of their white rice dishes. Pictured are the Sweet n Spicy Thai Noodles. Has lots of white chicken and shrimp. Sauce is not that flavourful but the dish is good nonetheless.
