Awesome halibut fresh, tasty and meaty with the fixings of homemade tartar sauce and lemon. Served in separate containers my Delivery came promptly with all the condiments I need to feel like I was at a beach storefront. I did order one piece but the size of the container looks like it was cut in half, so I got two pieces. I was also a client of this store with previous owners, for a decade or so. It's a slightly different type of batter and the tartar is homemade. I like a crunchy batter that's as close as possible to pub style. If they drain off a bit more oil before packing, and add a dash of salt it might be a bit crispier. There are few stores that serve fish and chips to begin with in the GTA. Support your local store and if you prefer a thick buttery and heavy morsel of fish, pay a bit more for halibut. If you have more people to feed and want a reasonable priced fish go for the haddock. Gravy is a large bowl but it needs to be much thicker. In general fish and chips isn't something I recommend for delivery. If you are in a car and it's close or you want a picnic it's fun to eat at the table at the take out in summer. Otherwise, these are just suggestions and you are always welcome to add me and I will follow back.

Harbord Fish and Chips has been my go-to fish fry for many years. This pint sized eatery has a couple stools inside and a couple picnic benches outside. It is more like a food stall than a restaurant. The chips are excellent, fried up golden brown and there is a choice of 2 kinds of fish - halibut and haddock. The fish is battered and fried to order and wrapped up in butchers paper and newspaper and adds to the nostalgic feel. Although seating is limited, there are no washrooms and cash only, this place is a great Toronto catch. There are a few parks a close walk by if you want to picnic your meal. Some say that it is expensive, but in my opinion the price reflects the quality of the fish and it feels good to support a local family run business.

A cool little old school mom and pop fish & chips joint in the middle of the block. I ate there for the first time yesterday, as a friend had said that their fish and chips were pretty good. I had their poutine as I was not that hungry at the time and just felt like a light lunch. The dude who served me was friendly with a smile. I expected the poutine to maybe be served in an old school box or something - as it was presented in one of those round black "Chinese food take out" containers with a clear lid. No matter - the poutine was really good and I can recommend it for the price. I would defiantly go back for it again. Next time I may go for the halibut fish & chips. No photos were snapped of my poutine as I just wanted to dive in lol.

Normally I don't write reviews, but looking at some of the reviews here makes me want to support Harbord Fish & Chips that much more.

The price range for one person is $10-$16, for two $20-$35, for four $40-$55. It seems like a lot, but the size of the portion you get is entirely worth it because you will probably have leftover fries that you really want to eat, cause they're made well, but can't because you've already overeaten. To be honest, I asked for the Two Fish + One Chip, and ended up getting three fishes with a generous amount of fries.

If you care a lot about presentation and packaging, then perhaps go somewhere else for Fish&Chips because this joint uses parchment paper and newspaper to wrap the food. You'd think it sounds gross, but 1) it's environmentally friendly and 2) who cares about packaging and presentation of FISH AND CHIPS.

The fish is fried just right and you choose how much salt you want on your fries. Pop is also a dollar there which is pretty cheap compared to other places.

If you're a student and just want to get full, I recommend coming here.

P.S. Who cares if the tartar sauce comes in packages? It makes it easier for you to carry and it still tastes...

brought back memories of growing up in Leeds, UK in the mid '80s. There were these tiny, mom & pops run Fish n' Chips shops on about every street. which one had its own charm and taste but they all claim to have the crispiest batter. Harbord Fish & Chips did a bang-up job on the crispiness. Some places, here in the land of the canuck, often make the faux-pas of not setting their fryers at a high enough temperature; so the fish comes out somewhat crispy, but drenched in oil. This was different though. Crisp and airy like it should be! The portion size was excellent too! honestly, I thought they made a mistake and gave me someone else's order at first. But the young girl behind the counter assured me that the CAKE SIZED BOX in front of me was for 1 order! Bloody brilliant!! I've driven by this place too many times to count over the last few years and the amount of regret I feel for not giving them a try earlier is almost too much to bare. I seriously got to stop being all hoity-toity and elitist with the fish and chips shops I patronize here in beaver country.. some of 'em do bloody right by Her Royal Majesty the Queen;...
