Really disappointed with this place.
First off, ads say there's free parking - that's BS, there's just THREE spaces, that's it! The rest is pay parking, so expect to spend about $20 a day just to park your vehicle. No rebate off your room price, no free parking pass.
It's difficult to navigate on first visit, no sign telling you which door to enter for the check-in desk. Seriously guys would it kill you to just put up a sign on or near the door at no 16?
Receptionist was matter-of-fact, nothing more. Customer service is not a strong point here. They aren't rude, but they will make you feel like your business doesn't really matter to them.
Rooms look NOTHING like the photos so don't expect the "boutique" experience that they've branded themselves on. Actually not even the lobby looks "boutique". I'd guess you have to pay top dollar for the rooms in the photos, however they don't tell you that when you're booking, they just make it seem like all the rooms are really nice inside.
Our "Queen" bed was just two twin beds pushed together. Basically just a rip off for what you pay. Room smelled of damp, not sure if that's from the room or the AC. Decor is extremely dated, everything looks like it's been the same since the 90s, including cathode tube TV.
It's impossible to know what's complementary and what isn't since there's no list provided.
The "bar and restaurant" at the hotel turns out to be a popular local nightclub with noise going on well into the early hours of the morning, something they don't tell you in the ads. So you don't really even get to sleep. Definitely DON'T go here if you need to be fresh in the morning.
It gets one star for location, but everything else is really poor. There are way better hotels in the area, seems to me this one is just motivated by greed. This is a hotel for youth backpackers who will enjoy the nightclub, and are too naive to know they're getting ripped off.
Will take my money to the...
Read moreAlthough the room we had was clean w a king bed ( two twins together), the fact that we had a front room overlooking the pub right next door became a problem. We got back to hotel after enjoying a show downtown and noticed the pub was very busy w lots of people on the patio. This did not concern us at 10:45 pm but in the next hour and ongoing hours the noise level went up w the booming base from loud music heard through the walls of our room. At 2 am i assume the bar finally closed drunken loud obnoxious people yelling and some screaming all came out onto the bar patio w some just below our small balcony. It was impossible to sleep! A call was finally made to the TO police and finally!! by 3 am all was quiet! It turns out the people who own the Madison hotel also own the pub - it is disgraceful how they disregard their customers in the hotel!! I found out after our stay that although the street looks residential w older brick homes, these are actually frat houses! Not surprised now, as the "drunken loud patio party" certainly seemed like something you'd hear from a frat house! So much for the label " boutique hotel"!!?? Don't stay here unless you want to join the drunks at the pub!! It's possible things r quieter on the non music nights at the pub? Guess we got unlucky staying on a Thursday night. Apparently theres music at pub Thurs to Sat night. For me, any hotel owner ie same owner of pub, who treats hotel patrons like they treated us dont deserve any patrons...
Read moreWe booked Madison Manor to stay at when we were attending a concert. We saw nothing or had any negative experiences with anything during our stay, despite reading about things in other reviews. We found parking on the street and checked in smoothly. Our room was in the basement. It was on the small side, but we found it to be quaint because of that. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern, well equipped and spotless. We came back from our event to see a very long line at the pub next door. The location is very much within the U of T busy area so was to be expected. But after easily finding parking in a lot across the street, we went to our room and noise was not an issue, despite our room facing the pub. We did hear the subway, but the hotel is located basically at Spadina and Bloor, so is to be expected. I was born and raised in Toronto and my alma mater is U of T, so perhaps I was in my element. The sound of the subway lulled me to sleep! The beds were comfortable as were the many pillows. In the morning I slept in and my boyfriend brought me a plate that he had made from the continental breakfast. I had a coffee, orange juice, muffin, pastry and a boiled egg. Plenty to get me going and what I would expect from a continental breakfast. Overall we had a great stay and we would stay here again...
