I wanted to try the cake that I bought first before writing a review so that this is a fair review. I'll start with the positive. The earl grey chiffon cake was really delicious. The cream was soft, smooth, and the earl grey flavor was subtle but still came through. I really liked the cake and it was definitely well made.
What I didn't appreciate about this business was the inconsistent messaging. If you a run a business, what your services are should be crystal clear. I actually came about a week ago, and looks like the business ended up updating their google information a week ago. I had suggested they make their business clear that they are take out and pick up only. It wasn't very obvious at the time when I visited and I had only walked in for an unhappy staff member to tell me they don't sell anything in store. I felt unwelcomed for sure from a first impression and first time visitor.
Another staff member decided to offer to make me a cake in 15 minutes and I just had to wait for it. I had made the trip, so I waited. It did end up being closer to an hour for the cake to finish, but I didn't mind. It kind of seemed like they were just squeezing me for a sale at this point. What I found more inconsistent was when one of the staff cashed me out for the cake told me they do sell product sometimes. So it was just confusing. Very mixed messaging. So you don't sell items in store, but you do? Which one is it? Are you pickup/takeout only? Or can you do in store shopping?
It was just confusing and a bit disappointing. Their signage on their door did also not indicate pickup or takeout only. I had assumed it would be a bakery that you can buy slices of cake etc. But maybe I wasn't being observant enough on their socials or website at the time. However, just so everyone knows and doesn't make the same mistake I did. This place is PICKUP and...
ย ย ย Read moreIt is amazing that such shops still exist. I tried their marron cake and it was like a poem. All their products, from the simplest desserts to the most complicated special cakes are prepared with amazing professionalism and love. The owner does everything to make customers happy and satisfied.
Dear Chinese friends! Lunar New Year has been celebrated in all over the region long before China became into existence, it is celebrated even now after your communist overlords have been trying to eradicate your culture for nearly a century, and it will exist long after your oppressed people will become free and the Great Democratic Socialist Soviet Republic of the Chinese People will be fragmented into several smaller states for the benefit of the whole humankind. Lunar New Year is celebrated by many nations of East and Southeast Asia, from the Republic of Singapore to Okinawa of Japan, from Malaysia to the Republic of Taiwan. It is our common value, common heritage, it should connect us, not divide.
Do not score the shop out of mere hatred. It only will make other people see Chinese as fragile, aggressive bullies with no...
ย ย ย Read moreWill start from service. I came without any notice and didnโt order anything in advance- for some reason I thought itโs like a take-out place. However, the girl in the shop (I donโt know if she is the owner or employee or both) was very sweet and agreed to make nerikiri for me in a very short time (10 min) and made sure I knew what they are made of and the tastes and all this (very thoughtful cause if you havenโt tried them before you might be surprised how gently sweet and delicate they are). In the end she explained how to make an order in the future to avoid waiting. Great service โค๏ธ
Getting to food. I might be biased cause I really love bean desserts but the mix of uiro and nerikiri we took was wonderful. So fresh and the texture is just right and itโs not too sweet - and so beautiful. Matcha was my favorite ones though yuzu are also very good.
Anyways, next time Iโll come for a cake - Iโm sure it will be just...
