You don't expect much at a branch. The people running the place don't have much control over anything - whether by design or mismanagement, everything needs to be escalated. So pretty much all you can hope for, and all they can offer, is customer service.
Unfortunately, this place doesn't have it. They offer a "what do you want us to do, and by the way, nobody really cares that much" type of attitude. If they say they'll call back in a day, it's 3-5 and if they say a few days, well, forget about it. If you call them in the morning, they'll call you back at 3:55 and if you don't pick up the voicemail is a simple "sorry i missed you, I'm leaving in 5 minutes so give me a call tomorrow." You need to show up at the branch and surprise them to get anything done. But again, unfortunately if you do, their approach to customer service is essentially "why are you here, nobody really cares".
Aside from the poor customer service, the work they've done for me is riddled with mistakes. It's all verbal and over the phone, nothing in writing. When you tell them they've made a mistake they say it's your fault.
An example of this is when converting a HELOC to a mortgage. They offered me a rate, I asked them to see if they could do better and they said they'd respond within a couple of days. Nothing for a week, I show up at the branch and they say "oh, sorry, yeah we can't do better and your old rate is no longer available either. That was a really good rate, you screwed up and should have taken that." That's an exact quote from the branch manager. If you ask simply why you have to show up to the branch to even find that out, it's back to the customer service mentality of "why are you here, nobody really cares".
Anyways, like I said, you can't expect much at any branch. But at least find a place better...
Read moreI have waited before writing this, because I am so reluctant to write my first negative review. Generally, TD bank locations range from good to excellent. This location is the exception. Although the apparently frequently-rotating cast of tellers are well-intentioned and willing to help, they seem to lack the level of training and/or supervision that other locations provide. However, management and financial advisors are willing to stand in the doors of their offices chatting about non-banking topics for many minutes, while being watched by the hapless customer sitting nearby, having been told to speak with one of them. They are happy to wander about loudly taking requests for coffee break purchases from other staff, while a line of customers (including several elderly people) grows ever longer. Finally, at least one member of staff is either entirely oblivious to, or willing to ignore, the painfully clear mobility issues of a customer, leaving them to catch up eventually - panting and limping. I will continue to go to other locations in the area, but I will never return to this branch. To the helpful young teller I spoke to late yesterday morning, please apply for a transfer. You...
Read moreI am a former TD employee, now retired. About a year ago, I opened several accounts at this branch as it is close to my home. Other than the initial meeting, my experience at 3179 Yonge has been consistently and significantly sub-standard (like the worst have ever had at a TD Branch) relative to the positive experience I have enjoy at the two other branches (Main Branch @ TD Centre and 1677 Avenue Rd ) I go to. I understand from two family members, who also bank at 3179 Yonge, that the standard of service has been in decline for the past year or two. The staff at 3179 are continually advising that cannot do things I would like in a particular way as they risk termination. This is ‘bogus’ per what I was told by senior staff at the Main Branch, where I have returned to, rather than endure the slow and what I regard to be unprofessional approach we have received on most every occasion at 3179 Yonge and never had to endure at 1677 Avenue Road (where service is excellent, professional...
