Horrible experience at the st.clair location tonight, took my family and went my 7 year old brother didn’t like the chocolate flavour as it was too heavy on him and I asked for it to be changed and one of the workers gave me dirty looks and was VERY rude and said no we count our cones and we can’t do that he would just have to eat it unfortunately and we don’t do that. If you have a child and take the child and he doesn’t like something forget they will serve you with the proper customer service procedure. They don’t know how to do customer service and this store definitely did not learn the proper customer service and manners to deal with clients. As a manager myself, i teach my staff and train them on customer service satisfaction and how to put our customers as #1 priority. This is what it means to work in a customer service based environment. I will not be going to this location from now on and will ensure to tell my family and friends to stop going there themselves as I wouldn’t appreciate them being served the way I was and going through the same thing. The girl was calling me a “sir” and My little brother went to get the iced cream after my mom has paid for another one and she wouldn’t give it to him and put it on top of his head and gave him dirty looks and an attitude and he felt scared. Absolutely disappointed with the way I was treated at the place on my first time attending after being referred by a friend who’s a regular customer there but will not be after today. I do not recommend the st.clair location to anyone, If you could and have the time to drive to Yorkdale do so, you will not go through the customer service you may go through at the...

Went with friends on a hot Sunday, purchased a medium cup (you pay first), and proceeded to ask the first which ones aren't gluten free. It's gelato, there's usually only a couple that aren't gluten free, the cake/cookie based ones. She didn't know, so she went to ask the girl at the cash and was told none of them all. I don't believe this, I think it's just a matter of them not wanting to double-check and not wanting to at least try and be careful. I'm not picky, I understand cross-contamination is always a risk, and I really appreciate it when people and businesses at least make an attempt--I'm not asking for miracles, just a fresh scope and take from the unused side of the gelato.
Since I literally couldn't have a single gelato there, I wanted a refund. I paid debit and no one there could do a debit refund. After a lot of back and forth, where I ended up demanding my money back because I wasn't leaving there empty handed, I got a refund by cash. The cashier then told me I should ask before I purchase. To this, I say:
IT'S GELATO I have asked in the past, and gotten crazy looks because it's gelato, it doesn't inherently contain gluten, Don't turn around the fact that you can't do debit returns (as there is no management there??) on your customer
I won't...
Read moreSadly, it feels like La Paloma, and especially the Saint Clair location, has given up, and just does not care anymore. There used to be all kinds of flavors at the Saint Clair location. Now, even in the heat of summer, half the display cases are empty. And the gelato quality and taste does not seem like it used to be, and almost tastes like the powder variety sometimes. Giving me the impression they are cutting corners. Still an okay place. But there are now more authentic places.
I suspect some of this downgrading of quality and lack of care in the Saint Clair location has to do with their expansion, and now being a chain and in places like Yorkdale. But it would be nice if La Paloma went back to the basics and provided an outstanding product and selection again.
The Saint Clair location used to be such a treat to drive to from the east...
