Owner was very gracious and the food was generous and very good. Would definitely come again!

Update: My initial review was based on my experience of the restaurant when we first spoke to the owner about hosting our wedding at Lara's Restaurant and Banquet Hall. Now that we've had our wedding there, I can only continue to praise the team at Lara's for all of their hard work in making our wedding the most perfect day!

Firstly, Dikran (the owner) was incredibly flexible with us, navigating the stressful stretches of our wedding planning with grace and consideration. He truly took care of us in ways I doubt we would have received from other venue owners. The amount of service received was amazing for the price! He stepped up and even added more than we initially asked for, even in ways that we didn't know about until after the wedding - all to make sure that the day went as smooth as possible. The servers and bartenders were so sweet and made the guests feel welcome. Probably some of the nicest restaurant service workers I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

Our guests could not stop complimenting how good the food was! The service flow was impeccable, guests were continuously served dish after dish, making the experience at our wedding both different and enjoyable. Appetizers were available at the table when guests arrived for cocktail hour, and more dishes were brought out for the dinner service. Even the fruit platter served as part of the dessert table was well presented. The venue truly exceeded our expectations. It is a humble venue, but with the help of the team at Lara's and our wedding planner (Every Milestone Design Co.), it was easily converted into a cozy and elegant wedding space. Guests commented on how much they loved the intimate vibe inside.

Food wasn't terrible, though disappointing customer service. I'm not one to complain about poor customer service usually, though this time is an exception.

I was seated by a table of what seemed like the owners, who were given all the attention in the world, while the rest of the tables (about three others including me) were paid no mind. Eventually I managed to get my order in and the food arrived faster than my order was taken (which was not fast at all).

Throughout the course of the quick dinner I thought I would be having, there were no servers present the entire time after my food was served. No refills, no attention to the rest of the diners. The server would pop back sometimes to attend to the owners table and promptly disappear afterwards. Sometimes I'd see a little boy carrying an iPad run back to the bar to pour himself a Coke, then go off to what seemed like the kitchen. Unprofessional.

I had to wait for 20 minutes for my table to be cleared after finishing my meal, and another 30 to catch the server so I could pay my bill, to which I was told that I had to wait, because another table was ahead of me, and to go back to my seat... I could have just gotten up and left at this point, but I patiently waited for another 10 minutes for the server to finally bring the machine to me so I could at least pay the restaurant. 0% tip, which was a first for me.

Lara’s restaurant is a hidden gem !!! I had been on a search for a nice place to have our company Christmas party and I happen to come across Lara’s restaurant. Prime location close to Fairview mall and close to the 404 and DVP. I spoke to the owner regarding my party and dates and they were super accommodating, giving me everything I wanted for a amazingly reasonable price . They owners are amazing and completely exceeded all my expectations and not just me but everyone of my coworkers. One week after our Christmas party and, we are already planning our next party at Lara’s. Harold the bar tender was so nice and so much fun, he truly made our night that much more fun. Highly highly recommended!!!
