We were a group of 10 got there on a hot July Sunday. The female server was nice and accommodating. The other server “G” was not having his best day. The patio was pretty much empty at our arrival time. Maybe a few customers were sitting on smaller tables. The seats that he offered were directly under the hot July sun and definitely not tolerable at that time of the day, so I pointed to another table which had partial shade. That didn’t sit well with him. We asked him if he can clean the table as the previous customers just had finished their food and the tables had food crumbs everywhere. When he brought the cleaning spray to clean the table, he did it with complete unhappiness and then literally sprayed us with the spray while completely disregarding us when we said we are getting sprayed! The dishes came and every single person who ordered a hamburger got a burger that was burnt on the outside and not cooked well on the inside. The waiter never came back to ask how the dishes are. He just came once towards the end and asked if we wanted to order any thing else. We didn’t replace the hamburgers as we couldn’t wait for another 20-30 minutes plus no one really wanted to interrupt the peace of our nice family gathering by exacerbating our server’s unfriendly manner. The kids pretty much didn’t eat the patty and the adults cut the burnt parts out. After payment plus tip, I complimented him on their beautiful patio. I kindly mentioned, as feedback, I think maybe the kitchen had so many orders that resulted in every single burger being burnt from outside. He just looked at me and said ok. All in all, the patio is nice, the inside of the restaurant is interesting and the food is casual, simple and of...

Loons was the last stop on my tour of the venues in the Roncesvalles area, and the service I received from our server—Emma—made it a final destination to remember. My friend and I had decided to enjoy a little pub crawl across the various venues in Roncesvalles. I have positive things to say about each of the locations I visited that day: Loons specifically provided my friend and me with a gorgeous back patio whose décor and seating made the evening feel much like having a beer on a cottage deck somewhere in Tiny Beaches—a pleasant respite from the bustle of Toronto’s howling streets. While the location’s patio provided a cottage-like décor that was more than pleasant, the location also provided something that a hidden, tucked-away lake-deck located somewhere in Ontario’s cottage country would not—Emma.

Upon our arrival, Emma greeted my friend and me with a smile. Her demeanor was pleasant, warm, and inviting. When I had questions about Loons’ spicy pickle fries or perogies, Emma had the answers I needed to make a choice. When I wanted to know about the pub’s beers on tap, Emma was able to suggest a refreshing local draft. Similarly, when I came to crave a bittersweet cocktail later in the evening, Emma navigated my indecision with a friendly and decisive touch that helped me land on a particularly delicious and bracing negroni. She knew when to joke and what to suggest, providing the pleasant décor with a personalized and hospitable presence. Emma may have greeted my friend and me with a smile, but thanks to her service, my friend and I left Loons wearing...

Had tried booking space to which I understood couldn't be done because it's first come first serve on patio. But also talking to them and informing them about how many people were coming they showed very little care. Down to one waitress taking care of us all and expecting 20+ people to stay in their exact seats so we couldn't mingle was unimaginable. Luckily my crowd all knew what they ordered and are honest people. When it came near the end of the night, I got word that the waitress was saying people were leaving without paying which made me very upset. I approached her and she seemed over whelmed and I inquired about what bill wasn't paid. She didn't know because there were plenty of us still left. It's so sad that Loons has chosen to deal with me and my group this way. The nachos were definitely a miss with barely any toppings at all or good feedback was the lamb burger. Loons if you didn't have the best patio on the west side I would've looked right past you. Thanks for assuring me to not...

In our never-ending search for a great summer patio, we stumbled on Loons late one hot Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, we'd eaten lunch not long before so all we were up for sampling from the menu was the Pulled Duck Poutine. It was decadent and rib-stickingly good (though a little on the salty side) and ached to be washed down with one of variety of beers on the menu. They have a pretty decent draught selection as well as bottled, including a wider range of ciders than one usually finds. So most people should find something to their liking. But the key selling feature for us was, by far, the patio. Shady and secluded yet a stone's throw from a fantastic walking neighbourhood, it was the ideal location to sit, relax, and wile away the warm summer afternoon. Get out there now, while the summer sun still shines. You won't regret it. (We'll definitely return to sink our teeth into the rest of the menu.)

Contrary to my last visit about a month ago, the food was NOT GOOD. My husband and I weren't too hungry so we shared the butter chicken, flavours were good but hardly enough rice. My son ordered the adult size chicken fingers with fries. Fries were good, however, the "chicken fingers" was a chopped up chicken breast. Old rewarmed food. I alerted my waitress about my concern. She took the plate and then returned with the same plate claiming that that's how they're made. Completely hindered our Mother's Day lunch when my child leaves the restaurant still hungry. I was a bartender/server for almost 20 years, including working for the former owner of loons about 14 years ago. I'm very disappointed. The server took the chicken fingers off the bill which was appreciated but trying to slide that by a customer is pretty despicable.

Perfect place to hangout after work. Was a Friday and my husband and I we decided to grab a couple of beers after work. My husband arrive early and he chooses the patio, that was a great choice after a good weather. We just enjoyed a couple games from the Olympics and a good beers. Service was great, our Waiter super nice. My husband asked for some fries as a snack. We saw the other tables food and looks good. Next time we will try the other food.
