We really wanted to try out this new place since this is close to my parents. Unfortunately, we didn't even get to try their food. This rating/review is solely based on their service. Service is everything in a restaurant. I usually don't have high expectations for a Chinese restaurant for service and I went in with that in mind. But what we experienced was beyond bad. Beyond all the restaurants that I boycotted due to poor customer service, bad. I have never been so furious at a restaurant's service before and I let a lot of things go. Especially when my husband also runs a restaurant - we know how bad things can go down at the back that cannot be seen by customers. With all of these factors considered, this is one of the absolute worst I've encountered.

We're a party of 4 with 1 baby. No acknowledgement when entered as the staff were running around. I'm cool with that, they're busy because it's a full house. When we finally got noticed, a too small of a table was offered because a high chair cannot be accommodated. So we had to wait. Understandable. A table of 6 leaves and the table was left for a good 10-15 min before they started to clear it. But not until someone walks in, one of the server just looks at them and said, "just wait a moment". Clearly it's someone they know because they didn't say that they had a reservation and for how many. I thought nothing of it because we were called to that table to be seated. A kids' bowl was placed on the table (such nice accommodation) and a high chair was brought over and squeezed in between the wall and table. We were comfortably seated and then another server (Manager maybe?) comes to us telling us that this table is reserved. I asked if he's serious because we've waited for 30min and we were called over to be seated. He said yes, it's reserved. I told him that we're leaving because this is ridiculous. I have a baby that needs to be fed and there's no way in hell we're waiting longer for another table. No apologies, no remorse, no expression. The people that got the table? Yeah, the friends that came in and just nodded without even having to say a word.

Even if they have a reservation, they should have communicated it thoroughly with the staff. They had plenty of time for this communication as we weren't seated until a while later. They were the ones that did something wrong, they should have dealt with the consequences, not the customers. There was not a single word of apology for the ordeal they put us through. They didn't even try to make it better like how a restaurant should do when there's an upset customer.

Oh, their name in Chinese is a play on words to make it sound like "good at everything". Except for service I...

Lucky Pot has made its presence known in the Milliken community over the past few years for their take on classic Cantonese favourites, especially for family dinners. I always hear from my family friends and aunts that this place can get quite hectic during the dinner hours. Be sure to make a reservation if you're planning to have a big dinner!

In terms of the food, you can find your classics that pack a lot of flavour. One of my favourite dishes from Lucky Pot has to be their Sweet and Sour Pork. The unique twist about their version is they add blueberries which is a nice change up from the typical pineapple chunks you would find. The Steamed Fish was perfectly steamed to pair perfectly with the sweetened soy sauce and sauteed green onions.

You can also check out Lucky Pot for their lunch menu specials. They have your typical fried rice and noodle dishes but one of my favourites is their combo of splitting a sea bass into a large bowl of congee and a stir fry with black bean sauce. It's a fun way of mixing things up with a humble sea bass.

Growing up, I saw a revolving door of restaurants that previously occupied the space Lucky Pot is currently in. However, I am glad Lucky Pot has survived over these last few years in satisfying the local community with their flavours. Service is decent with the wait staff. The prices are reasonable for the portion size you...

October 2021 3.5★ to about 4★ This restaurant serves somewhat typical Cantonese/Chinese style food with their own twist on certain dishes. Atmosphere: lacking. Tables inside and patio outside is reminiscent of almost a fast food joint. Though on the inside, there's a nice wall of plaques which adds a bit of ambiance. It's ok, but your not here to enjoy the scenery. Food: it's pretty decent. The 手撕雞 was very good. Strip's of seasoned chicken with a deep gangal ginger flavor. The 炸大腸 is good, though typical of other restaurants. The 避風塘炒蜆 was good, the flavors were very good, pork, dried shrimp, fried garlic, scallions and a bit of chili make the clams taste great. Only downside is I don't think it's fresh clams but frozen. The 黑椒牛柳 came in about 6 or 7 pieces. Tender and with the onion and black pepper sauce made this a little spicy and was a good combination. The 乾炒抑麵 which isn't on the menu, but they'll make whatever is typical, was done well. Desert was a coconut wild rice with taro and tapioca porridge. Again, better than most other restaurants and could be just as good as some dessert place. Not too sweet either. Honestly, the place isn't bad. If your here for some decent Chinese food that won't break the bank, it's pretty good. Good 鑊氣 "wok hey" or stir fry flavor which is important in Chinese cuisine.

Would recommend....

Wow, amazing. The meal came with complimentary soup and dessert (西米露) even though we ordered a la carte. We got the 八珍豆腐煲 and 蟹飯. Portions are generous and also very 足料 (the former was full of seafood, not just filling the pot with tofu). Yum! The service is above average for a Chinese restaurant (this is a sincere compliment). Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Prices are average and reasonable. 飯飯掂 is beyond 掂. P.s. Ignore reviews complaining about the wait time (they don't take reservations for parties under 6), the (lack of) parking, noise level and them only accepting cash. It's very common for popular restaurants to not take reservations. It's not the restaurant's job to provide parking. It's no louder than any other Chinese restaurants of this sort in the city. And there's a sign at the door saying "Cash Only" (which is very common for a lot of Chinese restaurants). Get over it people.

This place offer very delicious and authentic Cantonese dishes at a super cheap price, with free appetizer soup and dessert, and portions are very big. Highly recommended. We had the five spice duck, shredded chicken, eggplant pot, and beef brisket pot rice. All of them are very delicious and they are very authentic Guangzhou taste (that’s my home town). And the portions were surprisingly big. The appetizer soup (老火例湯) is free but very substantial and delicious. The dessert, which is also free, is a sweet soup that’s different every day. The day we were there it was a sweet pumpkin soup with sago. It was super thick and delicious. We were there at 3pm on a Saturday so there wasn’t many people and there was no lineup. I’ve heard from other that they usually have a big lineup. Since the place is not that big it’s better to make a reservation if you do plan go visit at dinner time.
