The food tastes great but the portions are disappointing like stated in other reviews. There's several other shawarma places in the area that taste great as well, but they give you about double the meat and rice for around the same price, so this meal didn't really seem like it was worth the price.
I ordered a full size bowl with a double rice base and it still wasn't a lot, and it had a tiny sprinkling of chicken shawarma meat on top. There is great selection of toppings and sauces though and they don't really skimp on them at least. At this restaurant they also don't give you free pita like the others do, and it doesn't cost much to add, however, it's the smallest pita I've ever seen and about the size of a large chocolate chip cookie.
We also got a kids meal with the lamb and beef that was more for a snack, but the portion size was comparably just as tiny and must be made for a pretty small, young kid. They also don't provide any sauces on the kids meal as well without paying for them which seemed a little weird. Portion size aside, the meat looked good though that was on it, but I unfortunately didn't get a chance to try any since I would have felt guilty about asking someone to sample what limited amount of meat they had.
I won't be coming back to get a bowl again, but I'd happily give them another shot to try a wrap because it was tasty. Hopefully the wraps will be a more respectable size comparable to what you find at the other restaurants, otherwise, it will be a bit of a disappointment after waiting a few months for them to open.
I'll also note that the staff were quite friendly and the space they have there is also...
Read moreYou know you're getting something special when your food is locally sourced. My Greek salad was composed of home grown Ontario vegetables that I noticed asap. There's an earthiness to the flavours, and the after-swallow gave me a nice vibe. Other salad places & groceries still buy stuff from USA, and i can notice the difference. The Greek salad dressing is less creamy yet thick, with a good lemon sweet after-bite. I had crispy chicken tenders with mine that are cut up and placed with the salad. Sometimes they're warm, sometimes not. I paid $3.50 for that addition, its well worth it. I paid $1.25 for a dash of tzatziki. It's worth $1.00, for the portion size I got, not $1.25. The Moroccan Spiced Carrots in a container are a little expensive, but worth it. It's yummy & exotic. Mevame - to me - is a fabulous, somewhat high-end, salad & sandwich place, of an exotic nature. Neighbours in Rosedale & Forest Hill would benefit from knowing of this place. They are rich people that love...
Read moreAbsolutely EXCELLENT!! I was in the mood for Mediterranean and recently noticed that this restaurant is now open! I walked and the location is VERY bright & clean. I was immediately greeted, and as I was looking over the menu and the process, the gentleman behind the counter helped me tremendously with suggestions & was very kind. But that's just where the review starts - it gets even better when I got home & immediately started eating - WOW! Everything was delicious! I got a falafel bowl with brown rice & vegetables... the falafels & veggies were so fresh and the sauces added just enough spice to complete a delicious and quick meal! I often go to sit down Mediterranean restaurants, and was a little nervous about going into an express location, but I can tell you that this compares with an expensive sit down restaurant! Such great food, great service and I can tell, the food was prepared with a lot of love & heart! I will...
