Of all the escape rooms in Toronto this is definitely the worst one - I've been to roundabout multiple times given a fair chance before writing this review.
On each visit to roundabout we escaped the room and the staff couldn't have cared less, in all the other Toronto rooms, they are super enthusiastic and sometimes put on a little (in theme) performance to make the experience even better. In roundabout you could drop dead at the front desk and they wouldn't even blink twice - again I've been multiple times and the same experience everytime. I've seen Roundabout reply to similar comments about this saying the staff don't have time to congratulate each team but when you're paying 33+tax per person for an hour long experience, you would think they would staff their business well enough to be able to build it into the procedure (all other escape rooms do it?). It's just a poor excuse for bad customer service and trying to cram as many people in as possible for more money.
Having done the mummy, ninja and the prisoner so far - two of these rooms had clues that didn't necessarily have to be solved to progress, meaning there was no clear logic to follow and you could bypass some of the clues which is not very satisfying or well designed.
During the most recent visit of the prisoner (Friday 13th January) 2 of the prison cells weren't even locked so some of the clues were completely pointless - I've seen that this may be a safety thing but the 3rd two person cell was locked so I'm not sure how that works.
Additionally, we were made to wait in the hallway when we had locked away our stuff, so we did. When we got into the room the guy said because we were 5 minutes late (even though we had to wait for him on top of that) we "might" have less time to complete the room if the next booking were on time for there's. Then the reception guy came in with 10 minutes on the clock to spare and said "ok time to go the next group are here", which is fair enough in one sense as he did say we might have less time but it would have been nice to indicate a proper escape time at the start by officially reducing the time or to give a warning on the Walky talky so we could manage our time better towards the end, instead of "maybe you'll have less time maybe you won't" and then to enter without any warning. When we mentioned this, he said "well this is your warning". Because we argued a little and we're on the last clue, he let us finish the room while he reset it - completely ruining the ambience as he was in there with us.
Complete bizarre customer service and you wouldn't get it at any of the other Toronto escape rooms who all have a buffer period. Save your money on this place and go to Escape Manor or Captive - worst escape rooms & worst...

Environmental It was hot in the room which kinda sucks. Especially as it was fridge/freezer themed.
Rules The final piece of the puzzle requires movement of an object that would not normally be allowed. It was not clear what objects could be moved in the room so for the removal of this final object to be required was very frustrating.
Inconsistent difficulty Some of the clues were extremely straightforward (a four digit combination was just written down in two places).
Clue item or clutter? Some items that could be assumed to be “clues” were actually just irrelevant distractions. I understand some objects are in there for ambience. It’s obvious to me that a hanging skeleton is a prop but a series of pictures posted on the wall did not contribute to our progress and simply wasted time. There was also incorrectly marked calendars which was not a clue. My date joked it was an actual mistake and I believe her. There was a pile of magnets. Some were broken. Seemed like a clue. It was not relevant. It was just broken equipment.
NOT for 2 people I felt my date and I worked very quickly. We multitasked, one testing out theories while the other found more clues, and yet we did not finish within the hour. You can imagine how devastating that is. Staff recommended a minimum of 3 people to solve. I doubt that would have helped as my partner and I worked quickly and efficiently.
Staff At the 60 minute mark I left the room absolutely crushed. The staff was nice. They gave us extra time and we figured it out in an additional 12 minutes.
Conclusion I don’t think I’ll...
Read moreThe ninja room was the worst escape room I have ever been in. We were doing the first puzzle right but we didn't step on the pads lightly enough so it wasn't working and that took up almost 25 minutes of our time. The second challenge wasn't any better and took up almost 15 minutes before we called and had it bypassed. The other challenges weren't too hard except the last which when we asked for a hint they said we had done it the right way but then when it wasn't working and we called them back they weren't paying enough attention to what we were saying and we had it in the wrong order, the gamemaster was not paying any attention to what we were doing. The room is insanely small and fits nowhere near 8 people like my group had and im not sure why it's listed as up to 8. Other escape rooms i have been to has multiple rooms with different puzzles so everyone is doing something instead of a few people sat in a corner because there's not enough space for them to help. And in this escape room it felt very cheap as you could just unlock it and walk out and when we won the employees didn't even bother to come and say we did it they just sat at their desks as we let our selves out.
We left feeling like we had been robbed. The experience was not fun what so ever and due to the amount of players vs the size of the room some of us felt like we shouldn't have even been there as some of us did nothing the whole time. The employees don't pay enough attention to the game going on and don't seem to care as other employees at other escape rooms actually put some thought into...
