Captain C Cakes and Ice Cream — Restaurant in Toronto

Could tell its a small business, no big deal but not being upfront with customers is such a weasly thing to do in order to get your money. I went to the store tryna get some hot food and try their cakes because they had a lot of flavours. Unfortunately they looked dry and crumbly so I didn't bother as they were overpriced. The ice cream scoop I got was "to standard" as in they skimped on the portion. I was also hungry as heck and they had a special "jerk chicken n rice and peas for 12.99". I asked if I could take a look as the jerk and rice because it was their only dish and served from a metal hot container. Rice and peas looked dry, their jerk chicken gravy is heavily diluted with ketchup, portions were small, I threw out the food and lost 20$. Wasted time, had to pick up a new meal, and left the store feeling uneasy about what just went down because I only got to check out my hotfood because she wouldn't give it to me until she wrapped it in a plastic bag. I didn’t take any photos because I was just there for a quick grab and ate it in the car with my mom, while we waited for our order from next door ( Narcos Tacos ). She picked up the red velvet cake, and I asked the guy who was serving us which cheesecake I should get, and he recommended me the oreo.

By looks, my mom thought that it wouldn’t be good, but when she took a slice and ate it she quickly changed her mind. The red velvet cake was good, I think the only “issue” is that theres so much cake and really little frosting on it. Overall, it was a 7/10. Not too sweet, not dry and still moist.

For my cheesecake, It was absolutely delicious. I love oreo cheesecakes, its always what I get for desserts when I am out. Again, with this cheesecake, its more so the filling than the cake itself, really only like a sliver of the cake. The cheesecake was truthfully 9/10. I loved it very much.

I’m aware it’s clearly a dessert place but this is a warning, do NOT purchase food like savoury meals here. Thought I might as well pickup some food and got the jerk chicken special with rice and peas thinking even the bad ones aren’t really bad right? Boy was I wrong. The rice, literally raw inside. Not some of it like it cooked unevenly, ALL of the rice was partially raw. Also the jerk chicken was quite frankly disgusting. The skin was like it was boiled then had sauce slapped onto it. You’d think the sauce would be a gravy but it was closer to barbecue sauce if anything.

Also picked up some desserts that were ok-ish. Did not pick up any cake or ice-cream but the ice-cream is probably great as it’s Kawartha’s with wide range of flavours available which is not common...
