Best Chinese BBQ I've ever had.
Everyone (well connoisseurs of Chinese BBQ) has their favourite Chinese BBQ and this place is on the top of my list. This place is truly something special. I have never found a better Chinese BBQ duck place and this includes Hong Kong. It's juicy and crispy where it needs to be. If you're lucky enough and time it correctly, you can get their Pei Pa duck which is flattened but made extra crispy. It costs as much as a regular BBQ duck but it's more labour intensive so they don't have it often.
Their roast pork is crispy, mouth watering juicy and has the right amount of five spice and salt on it. Sometimes when i'm feeling like a shot calling basketball star, I order a whole medium sized roasted pork for family get togethers. It's enough to for 20 people and it's usually the star of the show. I've had roasted pork elsewhere but this place makes the skin crispier and the meat juicier than other places I've been to.
My wife also had me eating BBQ chicken liver and chicken hearts. Probably my favourite food that costs 50 cents. IIt's cheap, sweet, savoury, chewy, and taste like bbq paté. I'm sure that this will be a big hit with non-chinese crowed once they get over the fact that they're eating a deconstructed hot dog.
BBQ pork is great as well but many places have mastered this commoner's dish so I wouldn't go out of my way to get it but if you're there, you might as well.
This is a place I take out of town guests that it's so good. Best to order takeout as the food court area might be too shifty for...
Read moreNew Sun BBQ is located in a small food court in a plaza with two other BBQ joints. The obvious difference is, this one is located in the small food court and has seating while the other two are takeout only. Seating wins for this visit!
I did have a craving for roast pork and BBQ duck with rice, my favourite Chinese BBQ dish. There was a line with people waiting to be served but it seemed to be moving along quickly. It didn't take long to get served. At $7.95, including a drink and tax, it was a great deal!
Although the service was fast and efficient, the presentation and flavour could have been better. Don't get me wrong, it was far from being bad, but having eaten at one of the nearby competitors, this one comes in second, so far. The pork was tender and juicy and the duck was meaty. Maybe it just needed a tad more seasoning or...
Read moreThe best BBQ restaurant I've ever been so far. Everything is super succulent and inexpensive!! On top of every combo dish, you get a free choice of either a bowl of soup or a bowl of refreshing soya milk.
Do not get confused with "New Sun BBQ" and Ho Ho BBQ(which is in the same building), cause the place where "New Sun BBQ" roasts and cooks their meat is just beside each other. The real stall of "New Sun BBQ" is inside the food court.
I've tried "Ho Ho BBQ" once, the BBQ pork was pungent in smell and taste(didn't clean and wash it properly); I'll never go there again. Whereas "New Sun BBQ" has no pungent taste & smell at all, I think they blanch the meat first before roasting, which is very essential for specially...
