I work for the fantastic cleaning wizards at Prolific Cleaning. Picture this: I'm booked for a cleaning mission near a restaurant, so after my cleaning escapade, I decided to embark on a culinary quest. This spot was just a hop, skip, and a jump away, so I thought, "Why not dive into a morning gyro?" It's been a while since I've had one, and I was ready to gyro-mania. The chef, a hulk-sized dude rocking tattoos and locks of glory, stepped up. Surprisingly polite for the early hours, given my notorious morning grumpiness. I spill my gyro dreams, and presto, he whips up everything fresh—no scrimping on the toppings, mind you—building a sandwich that defies the laws of sandwich physics.
Now, I called for the chicken gyro symphony, and let me tell you, it was a taste masterpiece. The chicken danced with seasoning perfection, crispy outer armor but a tender, juicy heart. The tomato, delightfully defiant in its firmness (soft tomatoes, begone!), joined the party with an oniony spice twirl. The French fries, neither bossy nor dripping in oil, played their part in perfect harmony. And oh, the tatziki sauce, my dear friends! It boasted a texture so divine, a consistency so spectacular, and a garlic punch that rocked my taste buds' world.
Life's wild twists led me to this place, a place I knew nada about. But there he was, a strapping fellow, wielding the gyro spatula like a knight's sword, crafting a gyro that knocked sense into my senses. Major kudos, pal, and trust me, I'll waltz right back for another foodie adventure. Well, except for the pork—I don't trot down...
Read moreAfter hearing about this place for a couple of years now as a lower-key, real-deal, alternative to the Danforth, I finally gave it a try the other day and came away very impressed by most everything I had. My only criticisms are that the salads aren't that great (or the times I went, neither very fresh) and lacking seasoning, as well as that the portions are on the smaller side compared to most spots I frequent. Also, this is a wider Greek restaurant/food issue, but I'm really not a fan of the rice that Greek places do. Everything else was stellar, however- the proteins are truly excellent, with great char, flavour/seasoning, and doneness, imo the chicken being the best, pork just behind it. The potatoes are phenomenal and the softest I've had- great flavour. Saganaki is incredible here, as is the soup, the lamb chops, etc. Oh, and that ekmek desert- heaven! Friendly, authentic, service, and a nice vibe out on the patio during these late-summer days. Great place to be, I much prefer it to their competitor right across the street, as well as to most places in the area- the only place I slightly prefer is Athens. But right after that, I have Pape...
Read moreCame here on a late afternoon on a Saturday with a friend. The restaurant was recommended by a coworker so we went to check it out. There wasn't a lot of people eating at the restaurant when we entered but by the time we finished, we were rushed out by the waitress. We ordered the Pork Souvlaki and the Melitzanosalata (Roasted Eggplant). The Pork Souvlaki was served with Rice, Roasted Potatoes, Greek Salad, Fresh Bread and Tzatziki. Since I'm used to eating Jasmine rice, I was not very interested in the rice. I found the Pork Souvalki to be a bit tender but also a bit dry. The Roasted Potatoes were a bit burnt. However, the Greek Salad tasted fresh and the Fresh Bread was served hot and soft so I enjoyed eating that a lot. The Melitzanosalata was also good. Both my friend and I tasted more garlic than eggplant. I can't remember if they played music but I liked how I was able to chat with my friend without having to raise my voice and they had good lighting as I found the restaurant not too bright,...
