Was meeting someone at Starbucks, and looking for the location, came across Patisserie Sebastien, was early so parked and walked up the block. Took a look around and OMG I saw a tray of canelĂ© sitting there waiting ever so dark and flavorful. Iâm not leaving this place without one, and of course I took a croissant and a chocolate croissant, why not. I took two canelĂ©, one for me and one for my friend I was meeting, ordered a coffee at Starbucks and sat down to try the canelĂ© and giving one to my friend who said itâs burnt, I said no, in fact it could take a little more of the darkness and just try and then tell me what you think. I bit into mine and what flavour, OMG what flavour, texture and then the contrast between the outside and inside of the canelĂ©, I was almost having a sensual moment in Starbucks, the canelĂ© was divine in all regards, simply perfection. Where else does one find canelĂ© in Toronto, where ask, where, nowhere. The croissants were good, nothing wrong, however, in comparison to the canelĂ©, well what can be said! Sadly, Google only allows for five stars, these canelĂ© are seven stars, a...
Read moreSuch a bad experience. Went to this "Patisserie" a little after 9 am this morning (they open at 9). Ordered a ham/cheese croissant and a pastry, and want to eat while we are there. They took the pastries inside, when they brought it to the table, I took one look at it, took a bit, my worst fear ...... they microwaved the croissant!! All the flakiness, texture of the croissant, GONE. I brought it back to the counter and ask to have it exchanged, the gentleman (in an apron, assuming he is the baker? owner?) I mentioned the microwave made the croissant soft and chewy. He said the croissants are cold and he can only heat it up in the microwave. Cold? After I insisted, he reluctantly handed me a ham & cheese croissant, and yes, the croissant is cold, fridge cold. I would expect to walk in a pastry shop in the morning and get fresh baked pastries, not something that is cold and need reheat in the microwave. Especially flaky croissant! And by the way, this stone cold croissant...

I visited on a Sunday at 3 in the afternoon and the offerings were quite sparse. Two types of Ă©clairs, lemon meringue tarts, a Chocolate Dome dessert, Baba au rhum and Pain au chocolat. There was also Quiche, but a limited selection. I tried the Pistachiođ Eclair and the Lemon đMeringue Tart with an Americanoâ and it was quite good. đĂclair - The pistachio pastry cream was smooth and creamy, slightly sweet and had intense nutty flavour and the fresh strawberries were a great addition. đTart - Crisp shell filled with tart custardy lemon topped with light fluffy and sweet meringue.
đđ»They close on Mondays so I reckon that's why their shelves were a bit sparse and I did visit an hour before closing time. That being said the quality of what I tried was good and I'd be interested in trying more items - including savouries in the future.
Hopefully they're consistent.
