Sauce on Danforth — Restaurant in Toronto

One of my favorite places on the Danforth. You're not going to find a lot of food here though, mostly cold tapas type fare. Of note, the cheese plate in particular is varied, constantly changing, excellent, and generous.

The ambiance is dark and red, with an old-timey bordello feel, with very comfy (but limited) seating towards the back. During the summer, there is a charming enclosed but open sky bar and patio out back that may not be immediately obvious. If it's raining, the bar itself is sheltered.

The beer selection is excellent and the cocktails are passable.

I've been to this establishment a few times and have grown quite fond of the owners, John and Michelle, who are among the kindest people you'll ever meet. However, I've noticed and overheard some of their bartenders, specifically Amberose and Erica, engaging in judgmental gossip about customers without any shame or remorse. Regrettably, both Amberose and Erica have worked here for an extended period and have established a rapport with the owners. These conniving and deceitful individuals often excel at concealing their true nature, making it difficult for others to see them for who they truly are. On Thursday night (Friday around 2:30 AM), November 24, 2023. I needed to use their washroom, but the bartender—an older lady with blonde hair and glasses—said I couldn't unless I was a customer. I understood and respected that. Returning to my car, I grabbed my wallet to buy a bottled water, but she said they didn't sell any bottled water.
