This is the best escape room I've ever visited. Me and a friend did the Dream Portal and although it is suggested for 3 people it was definitely manageable with two.
Pros: the atmosphere of the entire place is fantastic. The minute you walk through the door it feels like you've been transported to a vibrant and colorful fantasy world. Everything there is handmade, from props to puzzles you can tell a lot of heart went into crafting everything.
the puzzles were incredibly unique. How you interact with the props can have a hint of familiarity to more traditional escape rooms but they really innovate the process in many ways and more puzzles than not were unlike anything I've encountered before. The Dream Portal is the first escape room they made, but they also showed us a spoiler free tour of the first part of the Ice Cave, the exceptionally friendly staff mentioned the puzzles in the Ice Cave were even more non-traditional and inventive than those we experienced in the Dream Portal so we'll definitely be back!
Hints! You get unlimited hints without being penalized for needing assistance which really helps you to experience all of the content the rooms have to offer within your hour long slot. One really nice thing is the staff have very thoughtful hints that gently nudge you in the right direction without outright giving you the answer; this was very much appreciated and allowed us to still feel clever even after being stuck on a puzzle for a while.
the puzzles felt very sequential without any red herrings. One issue I've experienced in other escape rooms is when you can get multiple pieces to multiple puzzles at once it can be challenging to decipher which puzzle pieces match with which puzzle. DayDream Adventures streamlines this by essentially exposing you to one puzzle at a time so you can focus on the task at hand, rather than your team members trying to multitask puzzles independently of the group.
the staff were fantastic, they were exceptionally friendly, gave great hints, and were really insightful as to the background of Daydream Adventures. As mentioned above they even let us walk into the opening room of the Ice Cave just to see it as we had enjoyed the Dream Portal so much.
Monday through Thursday you get $20 off, if you bring in your Presto card.
Cons: you have to pay for a minimum of 3 players, even if you only have a party of 2. This would normally lose a star on my review, but considering how much heart went into designing the rooms, the staff handcrafting everything you see/interact with, and the other overwhelming number of positive things about this place, I can easily forgive the extra $40 it cost us to enter.
the surrounding neighborhood can be a bit rough after dark in my experience, I recommend going at a time that you'll exit the room prior to sunset if possible. During the day the neighborhood is quite nice and well populated so there is...

I recently visited Day Dream Adventures and was extremely disappointed with the experience. Here are the main issues we encountered:
Faulty Mechanisms: Many of the mechanisms for the clues didn't work properly. One in particular hindered us for 15-20 minutes despite us doing it properly, and no staff member interjected to help us as we struggled.
Inaudible Clues: The clues are delivered via voice overs, which are barely audible due to the low volume and the loud fans running in the background. This made it incredibly difficult to hear and follow the instructions.
Overreliance on Voice Overs: There were too many voice-over clues. Some of these were unrepeatable, which made it even harder to solve the clues when we missed or couldn't hear them properly.
Unclear Clues: Many of the clues were not clear. One clue directed us to look in a specific location, but the actual clues were in a different place. Additionally, some clues had writing for different clues in the same spot, causing confusion and a frustrating experience.
Inconsistent Symbols: One clue required matching symbols, but the symbols were not the same as those on the sheet provided. This inconsistency confused us and wasted valuable time.
Poor Lighting: The room was extremely dark. They asked us not to use our phones and provided lanterns instead, but it was still too dark to see properly.
Lack of Time Management: They do not give time limit hints. We had no idea how much time we had left, which ruined our plan to use hints towards the end so our kids could experience solving an escape room on their own.
Inadequate Communication: The method of communicating with staff was pressing a button in a giant, heavy book that my kids couldn't carry. They are trying to be different, but it made things more difficult. They could just use walkie talkies like everyone else.
Condescending Hints: When they did provide hints, they were condescending and unclear. They blamed us for not placing items correctly when it was actually their faulty mechanism that caused the issue. This lost us more time, which they did not compensate for.
Holier-Than-Thou Attitude: They claim to be better than other escape rooms because they don't have competitions and feature art installations. However, their attitude, combined with the faulty mechanisms and lack of time warnings, made the experience very disappointing.
High Cost, Low Value: The experience was pricey, and paired with the attitude and numerous issues, it was not worth the money.
I would NOT recommend going to Day Dream Adventures. As one of the pricer options for an escape room in the city (and high ego), they really should do a better job. Shame,...
Read moreCame here with my sisters for a fun day out! Was greeted with lovely, energetic and friendly staff. We were offered a locker for our belongings as well as hooks for any coats or jackets we may have had.
What we loved most about the expirience was that the staff member who was verbally guiding us through the escape room prior to starting remained in character throughout. From the moment we walked into the building the staff members treat these rooms as they are: magnificent, magical and out of this world. The staff members ability to remain within character throughout really made this expirience one of a kind.
We selected the Ice cave as our escape room option. And to say that it was like no other escape room we’ve been to before would be an understatement. This escape room was brilliant. It required a lot of team work, critical thinking and patience. But with the right attitude it could be done. However, it should be noted that if you need help you have access to employees throughout the your game time (we made very good use of this!). The props and tools used in this escape room were simply one of a kind and I would genuinely recommend anyone who loves a challenge, an artistic one at that, to visit this escape room.
Overall after much discussion with my sisters and back and forth about who liked what more. We give Daydream Adventures a solid 10/10! We plan on coming back to try the Dream Portal escape room next!
Can’t wait to be back! Keep up the...
