Unfortunately I had a very disturbing experience with a barista at this location. I was next in line to place an order and the customer infront of me had a longer order so I wandered off to take a look at the coffee bean bags on display to the side of the counter. When it was my turn , i approached the cash counter where the cashier / barista proceeded to ask me if “I was going to purchase that bag of coffee in my bag “ excuse me ? I was actually taken aback that I asked him to repeat it.
“ ya, do you plan on purchasing that bag of coffee you just put in your bag” .
There were other customers in the store who probably did not hear as I did not make the scene that I should have.
This cashier was dark haired , had an accent that sounded sort of Spanish. I looked at him straight in the eye and said - I did not TAKE anything.
He proceeded to act unbothered as if he didn’t just accuse me of stealing in front of others.
I have never in my life been approached like this. And it deeply disturbed me and that’s unfortunate because I usually came to work at this cafe. I have never been back.
If you guys have staff that are going to be racist and disrespectful especially without any proof to just run on assumptions - I would highly suggest you get some training in for your staff.
The actual audacity for him to accuse me of stealing when he had no reason for it embarrassed me and made me incredibly uncomfortable. On my way out of the store I asked him if he’d ever asked why other customers questions like this. Of course he had nothing to say.
Over all the staff has always been slightly...
Read moreThe Coffee, Food and Staff are absolutely wonderful 5/5. Unfortunately, the customers are often entitled, arrogant and the kind of fake woke that makes you cringe. If you are lucky, someone will show up after you are already there and complely rearrange the seating to their needs without considering you and the other people already seated enjoying their morning. The conversation will then be so loud you'd think they were putting on a bad performance / over acting. They will then leave their trash and not return the table or umbrella to where they moved it from. This is of course because they are so important and creative that they don't have time to be considerate to strangers or working people. The eye-rolls from the from the old heads that know what's up are a reminder of how special the Danforth was / is. Red Rocket Coffee is great and I hope the changing neighborhood doesn't ruin what the...
Read moreI recently moved to the neighborhood, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this gem of a coffee shop! I've only tried about 10 different drinks, and every single one has been a solid 10/10. Their frozen latte is an absolute standout. I’m genuinely heartbroken that I’ll have to wait until next summer to enjoy it again!
On top of that, their pastry selection is just as impressive. The scones and muffins are hands down the best I’ve had in the city. The shop itself is cozy and inviting, with very clean and neat interiors no matter how busy it gets. And I adore the little patio out front and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy my coffee on a sunny day.
The friendly, welcoming staff and the overall vibe have made this my favorite coffee spot in the city. Honestly, the only thing missing is some cool merch! If they ever start selling a red cap with their logo, I’d be the first...
