So nice we had it twiceā¦on back-to-back weekends!
If youāve been wanting to try Guyanese cuisine, I highly recommend heading to @shereensbakery !
Delicious food thatās š„- somewhat literally as itās spicy - and you might need to wait a few minutes in line.
Thatās because they are super friendly and take the time to talk with you and explain what everything is.
Went for the first time last week for Chef Dev ās Mad Love signing and got roti and an assortment of baked goods.
It was so good that weāre taking coconut buns and salara to a family event (not shown) and since we were there we HAD to get another chicken roti along with cassava eggs, mango curryā¦
And metemgee, which I had tried to cook from Devās book but didnāt quite get right. Now I know what it should taste like AND got Shereenās tips!
She was kind enough to give us a little taster of pepper pot - the national dish of Guyana and traditionally made for special occasions such as Christmas or in this case Fathers Day.
It is SO GOOD! Like all the holiday warmth, comfort and joy cooked into a bite - notes of caramel, orange, thyme, hot peppers, cinnamonā¦if you get the chance, you...

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality by Shereen and her daughter. They are truly beautiful souls and treated us like family. The food was absolutely amazingādelicious and authentic, bringing back so many fond memories for my dad.
Even though Fatherās Day is still a bit away, I couldn't wait to get this delicious food to him today. His smile was priceless, and it made the celebration even more special. Highly recommend this bakery for anyone looking for genuine Guyanese flavors and wonderful service! Thank you Shereen for the extra special gift on the house for my dad! God Bless you and family it truly was the best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's an amazing place. I came from Mississauga to check this gem as i have seen it on davidsbeenhere. It's a long drive, but i put all Scarborough places together for a one day visit. The place is smaller than i expected. Service was really good. There are no tables for dine in or anything but a family business with a food stand and a few imported local guyanese items. The quality and freshness of food were worth the trip . I liked the most the salara, so tasty with a generous amount of flavor. If you're guyanese or not even from there ( such as myself ), you will appreciate the quality and freshness. I didn't take any pictures bec it's all in google already. Bakery products are worth the try. On the top is salara, butter flaps, and cheese rolls. Also i tried fish ball made of salt fish i guess and it was amazing.
For a family business, this is...
