Confusing "rare" with "well done"...how are you in the steakhouse business when you still serve someone an overdone steak? People who order rare will never ever EVER accept a well done steak in place of it. They're complete opposites.. I'm guessing because it's takeout, your staff thought they could get away with their screw up And won't have to deal with the complaint right there in the restaurant.. It's either that or you direct your staff to still serve incorrectly cooked steaks. Because I mean, You put no money into the building, You stopped including a salad with the dinners.. You don't even include the proper plastic knives that can cut a steak.. And you cheap out on the takeout containers and just plop The steak right on top of the sides.. The least you can do is train your staff, or direct them not to serve an incorrectly cooked steak. Also for the love of all things holy, pay the $0.50 extra for takeout containers that have separated sections. You serve steak.. and throwing a cooked steak on top of a pile of mashed potatoes is absolutely stupid. Cooked steaks will leak out their juices.. You can't just throw it on top of a side dish and not expect there to be a mess. So I was greeted with an overdone steak and a soupy mess of potatoes because all the juices leaked out and we're not able to be reabsorbed into the steak. So it was dry like cardboard. The current owners are such cheapskates. (It can't be the same owners from back in the day..they must have sold it a few years back) T-Bones is not the same restaurant that we all have fond memories of... Was great when we were young and had no money.. When we were highschool and college students, T-Bones was the bomb! Now that I actually earn money, I'm not going to spend it here anymore. I'm done...
Read moreTaste was alright, portions were good. Only thing was that the prices were raised. 17.99 16oz steaks are now 22.99 (or something like that). They also no longer come with salad. No big loss there for me personally though. Just a heads-up.
With tax and tip (if eating in) the total for a steak now hovers around 30 bucks, which kinda crosses the line out of the "relatively cheap eats" category. Then again its steak, so personally im gonna give it a pass. While this is a pretty big price hike, (a 28% increase) it's still a fair bit cheaper than you would otherwise find for a 16oz steak. (a 20oz rib steak at the Keg is like double the price) Though to be fair the more expensive steaks would come with higher quality and a better environment. For example if I had a steak at a higher price, I wouldn't have accepted that the steak was covered in grill char.
All in all, I can say that this place climbed from "a great deal" to "a fair deal". At least in the sense that I'm probably not gonna go to my friends with "guys you gotta check out this place with their cheap steaks." Like I would've about a month ago. Before the price hike, I could say that you'd trade some quality and environment for an outstanding deal on steak, now its just a fair deal really. Because the new price is fair for what they offer, but only just fair.
---------------------------update--------------------------------- went again a couple nights ago and the beef was not only undercooked on the inside and charred on the outside, but the flavor reminded me of the kinda steak you get from chinese and hongkong restaurants. Which is very strange at a steakhouse. I'm not sure I'd roll the dice and try again...
Read moreI haven't had a decent Steak from T-Bones in 10 years. Tonight I grabbed a 16oz New York Strip cooked medium rare with extra Mushrooms, fried onions, thick bacon & Mashed Potatoes with a couple bottles of Pepsi as I don't drink Alcohol. The 16oz NY Strip was perfectly cooked, seasoned & charred to perfection. The price was the cherry on top as always! The inside of the restaurant hasn't changed at all in 10 years, they really NEED to spend the money to upgrade the interior because to be honest it would help business tremendously, because the food is very good for the price in my opinion & the interior turns a lot of people off & away from the restaurant because a lot of people judge the food by the interior of the restaurant right away which is a shame because T-Bones have some very good food. T-Bones is a perfect example to never judge a book by it's cover. I grabbed my order to go since I was only 5 minutes from home. I was just as happy as I was 10 years ago. If you order from UberEats or some place like that expect to pay way more for your food from T-Bones. I went to town on my Steak dinner & I'm now looking for my bed which isn't the healthiest thing but I'm very full & very happy LOL! But if your schedule isn't right for whatever reason or you work the afternoon shift 3pm-11pm & everywhere is closed & you can find a way there, do your hunger a huge favour & head on over to T-Bones. You can still find a very good Steak at T-Bones as they're open 24 hours a day in Scarborough! I know I'll be making it a monthly ritual...
