EDIT: I have changed my review to 4 stars. The owner reached out to me and tried to make it right. I got a credit and gave Simon Sushi another shot. This time I tried the chicken fried rice and the general tao chicken and they were actually really good. It had plenty of flavour and the portion size was good. My partner tried the shrimp tempura and the deep fried california roll and he also enjoyed it. I would get the chinese food from this place again because I actually enjoyed it. Thank you Steven for making it right.
Although, I will not edit my previous review, I do want to apologize and fix one error I had in my review. The sushi order I did have that came with fish eggs was actually one I forgot to put a note on so that was actually my fault and not theres.
I am very surprised by all the positive reviews. Everything had absolutely no taste, it was all super mushy. Nothing seemed fresh at all. I asked for no fish eggs and got some in one of my rolls so that already made it inedible. I was super excited to try this place out but was just left...
Read moreI took some new friends, visitors from Scotland and England during the final days of their Canada vacation, to sample the cuisine of Simon Sushi. I told them that the restaurant was nothing fancy; however, the place is super clean and the food, which Simon shops for personally, is always fresh. My new friends enjoyed the warm hospitality of chef Simon, Jenifer and staff and told me that their visit to Simon Sushi restaurant topped off one of the most memorable days of their visit to Canada. With the great prices and high turnover of loyal patrons and university students, the sushi is always fresh with distinct delicate flavours. There is an extensive menu with a wide variety of hot and cold dishes, so it is easy to keep everybody happy. In the same neighbourhood are the famous Kensington Market, Chinatown, Grossman's Tavern, El Mocambo, Silver Dollar, Graffiti's, Chinese pastry shops, souvenir shops, the University of Toronto campus, and on and on we go -- so you can do some very interesting exploring before and/or after...
Read more( the name of the items are caption with the image) This place is good tasting as they served with enough cop sticks, great amount of ginger, enough wasabi, and PLENTY of soy sauce. The tempura which was broccoli, pepper, red potato and shrimp was well breaded. Also the presentation was great, the teriyaki sauce with the salmon was also great tasting. On the side there was a salad with miso soup and a container of soy sauce, the salad sauce was pleasantly sweet. The customer service was good too, the woman working there gave enough napkins which is absolutely a YES. NOW for the cons, the vegetables with the tempura (not the shrimp) was not crispy at all, as you can see the top left sushi roll wasn’t rolled properly, and last the wasabi was a bit under quantity but still enough. The ginger and soy sauce amount made up for it tho. This is definitely worth a try and I would and will eat here AGAIN. ALSO THE ROLLS ARE...
