Greek food undoubtedly is my favourite kind of food and I always use the chicken souvlaki plate as my gauge at how much I like a restaurant. I was excited to try this place as I used to like Ouzeri which sat on the same spot not long ago and the reviews seemed to be very high. Here is my honest breakdown of my take out experience of two chicken souvlaki dinners from Soula's today.

Service - wonderful, super nice man took my order, was accurate about when it would be ready. Price was about where I'd expect.

Salad - the absolute worst Greek salad I've ever had and that is saying a lot. Why try and re-invent salad? I don't know what was in the dressing but the whole thing tasted like very salty capers and yet, no capers to be seen. It was just confusing... in trying to create something unique they simply destroyed the easiest part of the meal. No salad should be that salty and I didn't even have feta on mine. The OLIVE seemed less salty in comparison to the actual salad. That should tell you something.

Rice - best part of the meal, tasty. They use basmati rice which takes a moment to get used to but it was definitely my favourite part of the meal, but salty.

Potatoes - fine, not as flavourful as the rice but okay. Lemon style in case you're wondering and salty.

Chicken - and here's where the meal falls apart. There seems to be this trend where Greek restaurants want to re-invent the wheel with their Greek chicken marinade. Why? Why complicate what we love about Greek food? Chicken was fresh, hot, but the marinade was awful in taste and in texture. I think they used so much salt in the marinade that the chicken was actually disintegrating, what an unfortunate texture.

Tzatziki - good, nothing to complain about here.

But this is my warning to everyone. In my opinion this place should be shut down for the amount of salt they use. I'm on large water glass number six since dinner and my lips are still burning. Seriously, they are using a dangerous amount of salt in their cooking, I'm willing to bet there was a weeks worth of sodium in my meal tonight and I only ate half of it. My mother threw pretty much all of hers straight in the trash. I get that Greek food is salty but this is on another level.

I wouldn't eat here again if my life depended on it. ...

I went to this restaurant today with my mother for an early Mother’s Day dinner and was appalled by the behaviour of the server who was assisting us. We were seated outside firstly and told that a different server would try to find a place inside for us, after some time we were ok with our seat anyways so we ordered. However after seeing another empty four person seat we asked a different server who passed by if we could move there and she said we could so we did. When the server who took our order came he demanded we get up off the table and he started moving our stuff rudely. We were told they had to keep it open incase of a four person party which is understandable but they could have been more polite and asked us to move nicely rather than commanding us like we aren’t customers. After that the server understood we were upset with him and he ignored us all night. When we asked for the machine to pay he made a show out of passing it to another server even though he was right beside us. He went around the patio and asked EACH table except ours how everything was. When we tried to call him over to talk to him he would purposely ignore us and act like he didn’t see us even when he was like three feet away and we were saying excuse me loud enough for everyone to hear. He made another server come to us for the bill and when we asked that server to talk to the one who was being rude, she went and told him infront of us and after she told him we wanted to talk to him he looked our way and walked away. As we were leaving we said goodbye to the hostess who was outside, he rushed by and said have a good night with a smug face like he hadn’t avoided conversation with us all night and when my mom started to talk to tell him he shouldn’t be so rude he rudely slammed the door in her face. Very childish behaviour and extremely rude. He was a tall Caucasian man with a grey beard. Please do better in training your staff and this is coming from someone who works as a...

My husband and I came today and had a horrible experience. My husband ordered Lamb souvlaki and asked it to be cooked medium and they over cooked it, it was black like charcoal. Inside was fully cooked and the outside was burned. That's not what he ordered. I ordered chicken souvlaki and my chicken pieces were pink inside and not fully cooked. The waitress Maria is sooo rude! She is very disrespectful. When we first came in she did not send us to any table and said you guys can sit anywhere you like. So, we did. Then she came to our table and said "if I need the extra table I'm taking it." It was not busy! It was at 12pm. Also, if she wanted a table there were many others to take or she could have told us to sit elsewhere and not to pick where we can sit on the patio. My husband didn't even eat his meal and they still charged us. When my meal came, they brought fries instead of potatoes. So, I told the server Maria I didn't ask for fries, and she said yeah they ran out of potatoes so that's why the chef put fries. They should have asked me if I want extra rice or salad because i don't like fries. Then when we told them about the chicken being pink the server Maria said "would you like me to bring you a coffee instead?" I told her I don't drink coffee. That's how you compensate for the mistake? You want me to pay $60 worth of food and tip but you apologize by bringing $3 coffee or whatever the price is ?..... the owner came and didn't even apologize and said ya we have one cook and the other cook didn't show up. He was very rude. We definitely won't be coming back here again.. after we paid the server Maria didn't even say thank you or have a good day or bye or sorry about what happened. Very rude...

Let's go in chronological order. First impression. Great patio and atmosphere. Front greeting was average. Nice cool fans to battle the humid. Nicely Shaded Street patio table. Ordered the saganaki to start. Tasty piece of Greek cheese served with grilled pita. We loved it. Priced at $14. All 3 of us ordered the Greek chicken souvlaki dinner $22. Included was Basmati rice with lemon roasted potatoes, Greek salad and a gigantic chicken souvlaki. Tzatziki included. Ok let's start with the Greek Salad. I'm sorry but you don't use caesar salad lettuce on a Greek salad. The dressing was light and tasted store bought not authentic home made. All 3 of us didn't overally enjoy the salad. But the feta was nice and well spread out. A big no on basmati rice. Not authentic Greek or Greek really. Lemon potatoes delicious, fresh and tasty. One of us tried the Greek feta scallop potatoes. Tasty change. Gigantic chicken breast souvlaki. Diffentanly get your moneys worth of chicken. The problem is we all found it bland. Not your regular marinated Greek souvlaki. Better use your tzatziki because it's dry chicken. The marinate on the chicken isn't Greek. It's a dry rub of some kind. Tzatziki tasted store bought. Not home made. Our waitress regularly checked on us. Overall score is 3.8. Thats because of the quality and size of the chicken, fresh potatoes and delicious saganaki with pita. Would return but I know Soula can do better on the rice, salad and chicken dry rub.

Pretty modern looking Greek restaurant. Went with two different groups. Different experience each time. On Sunday we came for lunch and sat on the patio, and 2 out of 3 of us were not happy with the food. Lamb souvlaki looked good but was dry, and so was the rice. Salmon was also dry. However the calamari salad was delicious (attached photo). I would order that again in a heartbeat. The pita bread for the table was yummy. The server was quite rude. I'd say catty... she walked by us 6 times without asking what we'd like to drink so I finally flagged her and asked for 3 mimosas. Simple order. She looked at me and said I'm in the middle of something I'll be back with you after. Only to then ask me two minutes later, "so, 3 mimosas?" Yes, that's what i said 2 minutes ago. We just had to look at each other and shrug. The bill also had two out of three items billed incorrectly. Apparently prices were changed but our menu did not reflect it. Needless to say the attitude was very present with the server. Then we went back with a group of 6 on Monday night and sat inside, the server was quick and efficient. She apologized for the delay. Food was delicious and bills were correct. The goat cheese salad was so delicious... I am already craving it. What a difference good service makes.

Ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner, calamari, and chicken greek wrap for delivery. I have to say that I enjoyed the food overall, but was disappointed in the use of basmati rice and overall saltiness of the food. First things first, they use basmati rice with their chicken souvlaki, which I was not expecting. I love basmati rice, just not with Greek food. Personally, the rice is a huge part of why I order the chicken souvlaki, so it was a major let down for me. Also, one of my potatoes were slightly undercooked. I did enjoy the charred pita bread and the tzaziki sauce was good with a strong dill flavour. No complaints about the chicken. The salad was meh. The calamari was very tender and fresh, but it was salty! I wanted to love it, but dipping salty calamari into salty tzaziki sauce is just too much salt. It wasn’t so bad that we couldn’t eat it, but everything was pretty heavily seasoned, so the whole meal came off salty. My husband said he enjoyed the wrap, but that it was again a little over-seasoned. The french fries were great. I probably would not order again because of the basmati rice (personal preference). Otherwise, I enjoyed the meal despite the saltiness.
