We visited this restaurant for an early dinner and first had to make a reservation for our table. The restaurant ambience was decent and not fully occupied.

The server at our table was nice and pleasing. She asked us for our order and we started off with ginger tea from the varieties of tea in the menu. I was asked for the amount of sugar i.e. 1-spoon or 2-spoons and I requested 1-spoon.

The tea was served very soon and was hot & perfectly made that had the flavours of ginger. I enjoyed it very much.

Then we moved on to our dinner and ordered a Masala dosa, an Idly & Vada combo, Poori and Chana that came along with vegetable kurma & an Onion Tomato Uthappam. They were all served quickly and tasted pretty good. The masala dosa came with three different chutneys - Peanut/Garlic, Coconut & Tomato. To my surprise, the Sambar was quite cold in all the dishes and when I did let the server know, they immediately offered to replace the cold sambar with the hot one which was quite appreciable.

The peanut/ginger chutney was spicy that I liked and the coconut chutney was also good. I felt that the tomato chutney tasted just like tomato puree with not much spice added to it.

The poori & chana also tasted good but the portion of chana was quite less. One of the two portions of potato masala in the plate could have been replaced with chana as people enjoy chana more than potatoes :)

In addition to the above, the Idly was soft and Vada was crisp. The Uthappam also was crunchy and delicious.

We ended our order with a dessert (Kesari) which was hot and had just the right amount of sugar in it. The only thing with the kesari was that it was a bit sticky but overall it was good.

We enjoyed the food very much and will definitely recommend South Indian food lovers to...

Amazing food- did not believe until I visited this place had delicious food. Location is nice however the restaurant is lightly hidden. After going to subiksha since my friend referred as one of the good vegetarian restaurants in Scarborough we ordered masala dosa, sambar idly, gobi munchurian, porotta as well as coffee. Food was not delayed and came out on time .I did not expect the food to be so delicious. The ambience gives you the vibe of real local South Indian restaurant. Menu restaurant had was explicit on the type of food they have. Ordered masala dosa which was above my expectations. Masala had the similar taste of South Indian style food which was well surprising. Dosa was crispy, tasty and filling. Chutneys were good and fresh except tomato chutney which had odd taste. Sambar was tasty as well. Freshly made vadas tasted nice and crispy as well. Cheap prices for certain things such as vadas , 2 vadas for $1 , $5 for 4idlys with sambar and chutneys are few reasonable food items they have. When I saw gobi munchurian in the menu I was completely surprised. Being a vegetarian, gobi munchurian has always been my favourite. Ordered munchurian with few parotas. Expected taste to be average however, the taste was imposing. Have tasted same dish everywhere around but this experience was different. Parottas were well cooked crispy and flaky. Gobi mucnchurian was well flavoured and cooked. Had a bite from my friends sambar idly which was impressive as well. People will feel like the prices are eminent on the basis of ambience however the quantity and quality of food they provide is worth the price. Coffee is must try as well. Good luck to subiksha restaurant. I will...

Subhiksha Foods in Scarborough has become a regular haunt for me, drawing me back multiple times with its diverse array of dosa varieties. The extensive menu boasts hundreds of options, ensuring there's always something new to explore, and the fair pricing adds to the overall appeal.

A personal highlight for me is their dosa offerings, which never disappoint in terms of taste and variety. The commitment to providing a wide range of dosa choices is evident, making it a go-to spot for dosa enthusiasts like myself.

In addition to the dosas, the coffee, vada, and the must-try rose milk at Subhiksha Foods are noteworthy. The quality and flavor of these items contribute to a satisfying dining experience, showcasing the restaurant's attention to detail in its menu offerings.

The service at Subhiksha Foods stands out as well, with attentive staff adding a positive touch to each visit. However, the process of writing our names and mobile numbers in a book during busy times, waiting to be seated, can be a bit cumbersome. Despite this, the service team manages the situation efficiently.

On the downside, the ambience of the store falls short of creating a truly enjoyable dining environment. The lack of cleanliness is a noticeable aspect that detracts from the overall experience. It's an area where the restaurant could improve to elevate the dining atmosphere.

Overall, Subhiksha Foods is a reliable choice for dosa enthusiasts, offering an extensive menu, fair prices, commendable service, and an added treat with the...

I have been disappointed time and again with some of the South Indian restaurants that I have eaten at. I spent some time doing research on the internet before I found this place through Google reviews. Walking into the restaurant, I found the ambience pleasant and the seating area nice. The place is pretty busy and there is a thirty minute limit to how long you can occupy a table. I had a weird experience of having an ill-mannered stranger just come and sit at my table without even asking me if it was all right with me - to their credit, one of the gracious servers noticed this and especially came to ask me if I was okay with sharing my table. I didn't want to make a scene and said it was fine. I ordered the paper roast masala dosa. It was a decent sized dosa stuffed full with potatoes although it desperately needed some salt and spice to make it tasty. The sambar was cold and the quantity was too less for the dosa. Not being a chutney expert, I can only say that the tomato chutney was pretty nice compared to the others. As I mentioned before, the servers were nice and attentive - no tip was demanded for their service. I would have loved to give this place a higher rating, but the the lack of taste and/or spice in the food and bad condition of the washrooms makes this impossible.
