I had one of the most unpleasant experiences since moving to Canada. Upon entering the store, a staff member named Sara immediately told us we were not allowed to touch any items until we presented ID. While I understand and respect store policies, the way this was communicated was rude, abrupt, and unnecessarily humiliating.
What disturbed me further was that she proceeded to wipe down a bottle we had touched, which felt incredibly disrespectful and discriminatory. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, both Sara and another staff member appeared to mock us, and she even shouted at us in a condescending tone in front of other customers. This is not only unprofessional but deeply upsetting.
If such a policy exists regarding ID checks before handling merchandise, it should be clearly displayed in the store. Otherwise, this kind of selective enforcement can come across as racially biased or targeted.
Customers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and I urge LCBO to investigate this matter and provide staff with proper training in customer service and anti-discrimination. Everyone should feel welcome and safe in your stores.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope appropriate steps will be taken to ensure no other customer has to go through a...
Read moreMy Mom and I go to buy some rum for rumballs to sell at self-run charity event and I held it as we got up to the cash so my Mom could get out her wallet. They then asked for ID, which I don't have since I am 4 months away of turning 19, not that it matters because I wasn't attempting to buy it. They then said that since I "handled" it, they were refusing to sell it to us. So we calmly explain that I am in no way trying to drink or buy the alcohol and was trying to use it for a notforprofit charity, but apparently touching a bottle is now unacceptable to them. We asked if I could leave the store and my Mom could come back in and buy it herself but this too was not enough. So I left the store in an attempt to calm the situation but we were apparently not allowed to give them money for their product, so she was told to leave. What made a ludicrous situation even worse was that they were completely bored and robotic the entire time and seemed quite pissed at us for trying to buy their product. Best part is that LCBO is the only one who carries rum so we then had to drive 15 minutes away to a different location. We are absolutely disgusted we have to give this company any of our money. Not happy. Will not be returning, I suggest you...
Read moreThere is an older white woman who is extremely racist who works there. She seems to be in her 80s. There is a clear sign telling that we have to form a line at a certain location. But when some white client comes and skips the line, she pretends not to see it happening and totally disrespects and ignores the clients who have been waiting in line. During covid times she kept coughing non stop and still came to work. Totally putting the public at risk. She thinks that she is above the law and can disrespect whoever she wants. I have been going to this lcbo location for 14 year. NEVER AGAIN. This pathetic woman should retire. Not sure why she is still working there at 80 and...
