Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

Went in this morning with a client to get breakfast. Ordered bacon and eggs, always order my bacon soft and a water with no ice. Server didn't take any notes which is fine but can lead to issues which it did today. They bring our food out and my bacon is crispy as can be, I said to the server "Oh I ordered my bacon soft" She instantly picks up my whole plate and says let me take care of that for you. I was a little surprised she would take away my entire plate leaving my client with food in front of them that they elected not to eat while I had no food. I was also starving and on a timeline so I walked to the kitchen and asked if I could get my plate while we waited for the bacon as I was starving. My server then said "You didn't tell me you wanted soft bacon". First I eat out at breakfast places every day and have done so for almost 10 years, I always get a water with no ice and soft bacon, I'm habitual in how I eat and how I order so I know with 100% certainty I said soft bacon, but this isn't the time to try and correct a customer, I told her I most certainly did tell her. She again said I don't think so. At this point as I was still waiting to be handed my plate of food I just said "Never mind" as I've lost my appetite. I have no interest in debating with servers how I order my food for half of my life, and as I've said you shouldn't debate anyways, this could have been handled seamlessly with "No problem let me bring you some soft bacon" while leaving my other perfectly fine eggs and potatoes in front of me to eat with my client. Nope that wasn't done, and then I was told I was wrong. Just poor...

I really had the worst experience in this breakfast place . We usually go out for breakfast on the weekends. We visited this place since we went out for the farmers market in Humberbay shores but after going there we realized the farmers market will start from May 31st and thought why not try sunset grill . We were actually debating on whether to have in Canadiana by the lake on Mimico . After we ordered we were patiently waiting for our order . Just for 3 people- it wasn’t any lengthy order . It took them 40 -45 mins to serve us . We went in at 12.20 . Placed our order by 12.25 and served at 1.10pm . One of us had to go to work so I went and talked to the duty manager to serve us but there was no explanation or apology from her infact the server apologized . The food was mediocre in comparison to what we have in other places . I would like to give no star to them . Customers who came 15 mins later than us were served before us and there were 2 tables with a group of 8 people who came...

This is hands down my best place for a fulfilling breakfast experience. The dine-in area is comfortably spaced and naturally lit due to daylight streaming in from ceiling high windows. I was able to soak in the outside view (street with gentle snowfall) while I'm warm inside and having breakfast. The entire staff here is quite polite and helpful. It has a family vibe to it but at the same time it's professionally managed. There is a continuous buzz of patrons on weekends which gives this place a warm and cozy feeling. And thankfully, it's not loud at all, so you can enjoy your meals and have private conversations. The meals are delicious and consistently tasty. I think that's the key - consistency. And their black coffee is amazing as always, and you can have multiple refills! Update: The place is still just as pleasant to visit in summer.
