I love this place. This isnt a fancy burger place, so set expectations accordingly. Want a $20 burger with garlic aoili, 5 yr old cheddar, and Spanish onions? Go down the street. But If you're in the mood for a great backyard bbq/old school greasy spoon type burger, for not a lot of money, this is the place.
I've been coming here for a few years, had the 6 and 8 oz homemade burger, 5 oz angus, chicken burger, and pork souvlaki. Meats are always grilled to order and cooked to juicy perfection - not fried into a dense chewy puck like McD's, nor sitting around under a heat lamp like any number of places, nor whatever it is they do at burger king (steamed? nuked??).
Buns are either soft billowy brioche type things, or soft kaisers. Souvlakis and hot dogs are on big soft hot dog buns like you get at a good hot dog cart.
Toppings are basic, but fresh, good, and just what you need. Lettuce, tomato, dill pickles, onions, peppers, and a bunch of sauces (ketchup, may, bbq, mustard, relish, hot sauce, tzatziki, etc). You won't find hipster sauces here.... Just the basics.
Fries are always made to order, not pre-cooked and wilting under heat lamps... Crispy, hot and delicious.
The owner is super friendly and obviously appreciates his customers.
tldr: food is hot, fresh and delicious and cooked to order. Big portions. Friendly and attentive service. Great value for money. Sometimes, simple, delicious, backyard bbq type comfort food is just what you want. Super burger is...
Read moreI purchased the "Homemade Burger 8 Ounce Combo" w. onion rings. The server was straight to business with no small talk, which isn't a problem but you won't be getting a friendly talk. There is a street car stop right in front, as it is located on a main street.
The onion rings were perfectly crispy, not overly salty but did have a bit of a fishy taste. They were made on the spot so they tasted and felt fresh. The sizes of each ring varied and the entire bag was about the size of a large fist.
The burger was also made on the spot, tasted fresh but dry with a decent flavor. The bread was soft, mushy but not ripping. You can add ingredients to your burger for no extra charge, like Harvey's style. Pay attention to your canned pop, as mine was all dented.
For $15.54 for 8oz fresh burger and bag of onion rings and a can pop, it's a bit under average price.
Ultimately, I would return for their onion rings and maybe try their fries. The burger itself was not bad but nothing to write home...
Read moreFound this place on our way home from Toronto. Wanting to take the kids out for burgers and wanted something different from Mcds. We were looking at heading to the Works but always love independent shops. I'm so glad my husband saw this at the red light and that we stopped at.
Between my kids him and I we had hotdogs 4oz and 6oz.burger and a veggie burger. EVERYTHING was cooked to order. Juicy as all can be and most of all Delicious.
We also agreed when we occasionally come into the city to see an Argos game. We're leaving early so we can stop here on our wsy down. Far better than anything we would get at...
