I’m unsure what it is about the Milner location, however everytime I visit the staff appear to be miserable, ageist(towards younger people) and discriminatory towards young families. I frequent this location quite often, and usual put this issue past me due to the convenience of the location. However, on my most recent visit (February 14th, 2023) with my two young children it was the worst visit yet. Once I step foot to the host stand; a lady with white hair was standing there idle. She looked at me, without greeting me and walked away abruptly. A younger staff came and sat me at a table. In my area at the time was another family and an older couple, the family who had already been serviced and the couple about to be serviced. My family and I sat at our table for more than five minutes as multiple staff passed us, the young lady who sat us said while pointing to my table saying “who is taking that table?” The response of an older staff with brownish hair said “I don’t know, not me!” While this all occurred another older couple was seated behind my family, they were immediately approached by the older staff with the brown hair. Again, a few more minutes passed before we finally were greeted at our table. I understand that it was Valentine’s Day, however the restaurant wasn’t very busy and there were many staff on duty at the time of my visit (way more than usual).
We also had an issue with the two kids cheesy pizzas, they both came burnt (I will attach photos). I notified my server immediately and she was reluctant to do anything about it, she then finally offered to order something else from the menu as she claimed that issue will be the same. I found this strange, since my children always order this same menu item without any issues.
Again, it is clear that this location is ageist and discriminatory towards young families. Unsure if they assume no or fewer tips, which to add can occur with anyone who visits. I still left a more than 20% tip on my bill of $53.07 as I gave a flat...
Read moreNot the food quality I expect when visiting a Swiss Chalet. I'm aware this is not a high end restaurant however the food we were served I would not have fed my own family. The bacon cheeseburger lacked all toppings except the cheese and single strip of bacon (broken into 3 pieces). The perogies had no cajun seasoning, and I was told they no longer offer cajun sour cream for dipping. The perogies were soggy, not what I usually get with a crisp outside and soft middle. The chicken spring rolls lacked flavour and we're burnt and tasted of old oil. Upon checking these items on the Swiss Chalet menu the burger should have included lettuce, tomato, onion and Mayo. The perogies are in fact to be served with cajun seasoning and cajun sour cream. Upon speaking with the manager I advised I didn't want to pay for the perogies of which one bite was taken. The spring rolls were not eaten, neither were the fries that came with the burger. All of which tasted like bad oil. The manager did remove the perogies and provided a 10% discount. After tipping my waiter (who dealt with this all as professionally as possible) I paid $50 for a naked bacon cheeseburger and 2 shirley temples. All the other food was not edible and left behind.
Update (April 2025): I did email Swiss Chalet with the reference provided. There were some communications back and forth about my experience and the promise of coupons to dine with them again. No coupons were ever received. I emailed them after several weeks and advised them of this, to which they never replied. I'm disappointed to say that Swiss Chalet's lack of response, follow up and professionalism means I will not return to any of their locations. I've always enjoyed their food (when they get it right). I'm now on the search for a new affordable, dine in, family...
Read moreI would give this restaurant 0 stars, but unfortunately this is not an option. This is by far THE WORST restaurant experience of my life.
We arrived after a trip to the Toronto Zoo with our toddler because it was close in location and it's a nice family restaurant to bring our toddler to.
FIRST - NO CRAYONS: we arrived and were seated with our menus and the kids menu which had a colouring page on the back but was not accompamied with Crayons and when I asked the server, she said they didn't have any. Crayons don't cost much and can be purchased at the dollar store so I'm not sure why they would skim here especially since they are in close proximity to the Toronto Zoo where lots of families take their children.
SECOND - BEER: our beer came barely cold with a fly floating on top - yummy right?
THIRD - GLASSES: the first beer glass they brought with our pitcher was dirty. I pointed it out and our server brought another glass which was also dirty and smelt like the milkshake or drink that was in there before. Eventually I asked for a plastic kids cup and we left with a half pitcher of beer still on the table because we were so disgusted.
FOURTH - WRONG ORDER: our daughters meal was supposed to be chicken strips with mashed potatoes and gravy. We got the gravy but french fries instead of mashed potatoes. Not such a big deal to us though.
FIFTH - CHICKEN: both my chicken and my husband's chickene were pink/red.
SIXTH - while our waitress apologized and acknowledged all the screws ups with our order there was no offer to make things right.
My husband, toddler and I visited this Swiss Chalet last year after a trip to the Toronto Zoo and it was great. I'm not sure if management changed or what happened but this is unacceptable.
Do not go here if you don't want...
