Yes, I know that posting a single star to this popular franchise is brutal. Do they deserve it? No, they deserve zero stars. Thai Express, Bayview Village Mall comes by it honestly because unfortunately 3 days later and I'm still nauseous. Here's the history of that fateful lunch. I wanted a large soup with noodles and beef. There was no delay, it came quickly. They even shouted at me that it was ready. The noodles were nice but the broth was unlike any broth I've ever ordered. Still though, no major problem deserving only one star. Not anyways until I can across what was supposed to be a piece of beef. Not! This thing pretending to be beef had a hard piece of gristle attached to it that was simply alien. My soup was down about an inch at most. I carried it up to the woman who originally served me. I explained nicely and respectfully what I found in my soup. She immediately became miserable. She did not speak with me, nor did she apologize. She decided I couldn't be right so she took it to the men in the back. She returned to me at the cash and just looked at me as if I was an alien. I realized I had to do the speaking. I was prepared to give them a second chance. There was no way I would risk having their so-called meat si I asked for an Eggplant stir-fry. Obviously much cheaper than the large bowl of soup but she gave me no refund and again no refund and no attempt to explain. She presented me with a side bowl of stir-fry and kept my money! The eggplant was was sad and I was starving. It took me all of 3 minutes to eat my vegetables. My original dish returned almost intact was about $16.00 and the tiny stir-fry about $7.00. Okay, I cannot give Thai Express Bayview Village Mall ZERO stars but one thing I can do is to NEVER return.Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Stay far away from these people. At best horrible cooks and at worst superbly...
Read moreIt was a disappointing experience when I patronized the Thai Express at Bayview Village. I ordered a Noodle Soup and a Stir Fry. The noodle soup was so-so but the Stir Fry was a disappointment. This happened on Oct 25th afternoon - please refer to the attached picture of receipt. First, the chef thought it was just stir fry with no rice, and later on someone came over and put the rice back and gave the dish back to me with no apology. The Cashier was not interested in saying hello or trying to promote what's good in the restaurant. She didn't want to look at us in the eye - it's a bit rude honestly. Well, the owner smiled but that's the person who cared.
Back to the Stir fry, take a look at what we got vs. what's up there on the menu board. The menu board stir fry looks a lot better - nice pieces of beef with broccoli and fresh veggie. Look at what I got! Lots of bean sprouts, which were not cooked very well. I was told it's the way they make it - it's Thai. Yes, it's true, but the bean sprouts reeks because it's not cooked well. Why? It's not fresh!!!!
Anyway, I was about to complain but when I checked out the Pad Thai another customer got across from my stable. It's merely two pieces of shrimp mixed with noodles. It didn't look too good either. I was like, well, I might as well save my breath.
I mean, I have been a Thai Express fan since the day it was born. I like your Mini Soups and your Noodle Soups. Once in a while I visit your restaurants, but this time, it's the huge disappointment. Your menus aren't cheap. It's comparable to a fine dining Thai restaurant and I expect something better.
If you wish to keep us as frequent customers, you have to do...
Read moreDon't know what's so 'elite' about this location inside the mall. Expensive for cheap food, they put as little meat and vegetables into a $10 meal as possible, if you look around you everyone has rice and noodles and rice and that's about it. We ordered Pad Sew which shows a fair amount of Chinese broccoli in the picture, and it was noodles with some fragments of broccoli leaf.
Also ordered the cold spring rolls with shrimp, which were filled with iceberg lettuce, some julienned carrot, and 2 shrimp, one on each end. A ripoff.
To be fair, this isn't just this location I think, over the past 2 years corporate must have been pushing all locations to up the starch and reduce the meat and veg, but the prices are still sky high. But it's a rip-off. If I wanted noodles and starch I'd buy Ramen at the local market for $0.30.
Also this particular location is in an upscale mall, but the interior is borderline McDonald's level in terms of poshness.
