We like to try new places on the weekends for some late night snacks. I was craving fried chicken so we went on the hunt. We've always enjoyed Korean, so this seemed to have both the craving for Korean and fried chicken covered.
Restaurant is dimly lit but nicely decorated, besides from piles of dirty dishes everywhere the restaurant was rather clean. Only one waitress on staff on a Saturday night. Needless to say service was inattentive, we weren't asked about drinks or served any water until we asked 15-20 minutes later.
We ordered Green onion chicken ($18.99), chicken was thoroughly over-cooked the breading was Bland and under seasoned. It was delivered smothered in sweet sauce that seems like teriyaki. Chicken came out piping hot, first few pieces were crispy however it disintegrated quickly as it was covered in sauce, became slimy and unappealing within minutes.
To a accompany our disappointing chicken, we ordered a companion. Garlic butter french fries ($9.49), they were definitely french fries however they recovered in an unidentified sweet powder that was neither garlic or butter, they were inedible.
My wife liking spicy seafood soup ($16.99) was ecstatic to find it on the menu. Presentation was excellent however this to seem to lack the wow factor. The soup was under seasoned, the bowl was filled with inexpensive vegetables, the seafood contained within probably came from a bag you would commonly find in the frozen section of the grocery store.
Needless to say we were thoroughly disappointed with our experience and will not be returning. We expressed our disappointment and displeasure upon being presented our bill, we were told that this was their "famous menu".
The outrageous prices on the menu and the combination of inattentive service as well as the Bland under season food is not a great combination for a restaurant. If you're looking for late night eats look somewhere else. I gave this two Stars only because we received what we ordered, we even got the extra spicy sauce (wasn't spicy, thought it tasted like sweet chili sauce you buy in aisle four of your local FreshCo) after we ask...
Read moreWent to the fry with some friends and ordered the signature green onion fried chicken, cheese fries and some other less memorable fried chicken dishes.
The green onion crispy chicken is always ordered whenever I come cause it never disappoints. The texture is crispy and still maintains a moist inside. Portion size is good amount for a group. To give an example, there were 6 of us in this event, and we ordered a total of 3 chicken dishes and 1 bowl of fries, which filled everyone and we all left happily.
What I would suggest is to order a variety of chicken like saucy ones and not only different flavors of fried chicken. This was a mistake our group made and it tasted a bit repetitive.
Cheesy fries were fries covered in a sweet cheese powder which was a interesting taste as its not common in American wings pubs. If you ever had the Pringles sweet mayo cheese which I had when traveling Korea, it is very familiar to that.
I ordered the yogurt soju, which I will not recommend as the amount of soju was not fairly given accordingly to the price in my opinion. There was very minimal soju taste to it. Therefore if I had to choose again, I would rather order a bottle instead.
Price wise, it's around $15 per person. Keep in my mind, I did order a soju therefore costs could be a bit lowered if alcohol is not your type of thing.
Pricing is reasonable in respects to the portions given (food only), atmosphere is good where we had a large table for our group of 6, food is good tasting and something I would come back for, and good location with available parking. What took off a star was because there was only one server in the evening and maybe it was a bit busy, she was not attentive...
Read moreThe Fry has lost its charm. The chicken is fried crispy but there is a bitter taste, likely due to the oil being very old. When the oil isn't changed often, the starch from previous cook burns. This is noticed on flavors that aren't heavily coated in sauces. Here are my review of each item ordered.
Green Onion - still my go to because of the simplicity and freshness of the green onion. Very mild and should be a crowd pleaser.
Spicy - this is a gochujang (fermented hot pepper paste) forward flavor. It's deep, nutty, sweet, slightly sour. But not very spicy. My group really liked it but I found it overwhelming.
Galbi - not very good, tasted nothing like Galbi sauce. It was just sweet, nothing more. The sauce was thin, making the chicken soft.
Supreme - by far a very bad combination of flavor. We asked staff to describe the flavor and was told it was a mayo based sauce. After receiving, it turned out to be a very sweet white and red sauce. The white sauce appeared to be lemon juice, condensed milk and maybe a little bit of mayo. Very difficult to eat.
Spicy rice cake - on the chewier side, not very flavorful.
Fries - Costco fries.
Very limited seating, tablet self ordering and only one front of house staff.
Very slow service and they will never check up on you. This is more of a fast casual experience with a high price tag. 10% cash discount
Sparking opinion: if you self order at a restaurant, the staff only brings you food and your bill, never checks up on you or provide you extra napkin, should you still tip? Is tipping still a gift of generosity or a hidden...
