A small restaurant at the corner of the street. The seating area is small, with only a few tables. Was quite busy at lunch time.

We ordered 1 Tteokkochi Katsu, 1 Cheese Bomb Katsu, 1 Hot and Spicy Cheese Katsu, 1 Grilled Chasu (4pc), and 1 Takoyaki (6pc).

The spicy level goes from level 0 to 3. 0 being not spicy and 3 being deadly spicy.

The Grilled Chasu was delicious and tender. There was some kind of sauce and green onions on top of it. The Takoyaki was pretty good.

The Tteokkochi Katsu consists of the katsu, brown sauce, spicy rice sticks (2 sticks with 4 on each), rice, corn salad, lettuce salad, and pickled radish. I got this one at level 0 spicy. I basically finished my katsu and most of my side dishes. I took home the pickled radish and one of the tteokkochi stick. My dish was really good too. Though the spicy rice stick was spicier than expected.

The Cheese Bomb Katsu consists of the cheese on the inside of the katsu, brown sauce, corn salad, rice, and lettuce salad. My friend got it at level 0 spicy. Some real gooey cheese that stretches for miles on end. He ended up eating half of his katsu and some of his sides. He also took the rest home. He said that it was really yummy.

The Hot and Spicy Cheese Katsu consists of melted cheese on top of the katsu and what seems to be onions underneath the katsu. My friend got it at level 2 spicy. He said that the katsu tastes really good, but it was really heavy and lots of cheese and meat made him really full fast. He only finished half and took the rest back home.

When it comes to paying for your meal, you get the bill and go up to the counter to pay. If you want to pay separately, just ask and they will make it separate.

The portions of food is like double the size. The reviews don't lie. The food portions are huge and a lot of people end up taking the food home cause there's just so much.

The prices are decent. For its very good portion sizes. Pretty worth it...

I stumbled into this place called Brown Donkatsu in North York, and let me tell you, it's not your typical Katsu joint.

I went balls to the wall and ordered their Snow Cheese Katsu and Carbonara Curry Katsu. Now, I've choked down my share of crappy food court slop, but this joint? It's like they took comfort food and jacked it up on steroids.

The Snow Cheese Katsu is a beast. Picture this: a slab of pork, beaten thin and fried to a golden crisp, then drowned in melted cheese. It's like someone got a schnitzel drunk, hooked up with a grilled cheese, and this was their love child. The panko coating gives it this kickass crunch that reminds you of when food actually had some bite to it, you know?

But the real mind-blower? The Carbonara Curry Katsu. Yeah, you heard that right. They took two completely different cuisines and mashed 'em together like it was no big deal. The katsu is your standard crispy pork cutlet, but then they smother it in this carbonara-curry sauce hybrid. It's creamy, it's savory, it's got a little heat - it shouldn't work, but damn if it doesn't. You've got the Italian creaminess from the carbonara mixing with the Indian spices from the curry, all on top of a Japanese-style cutlet. It's like a UN meeting in your mouth, only way more productive.

Both dishes come with this tangy slaw on the side. It's not just some afterthought - it actually does its job of cutting through all that richness. It's like they actually give a crap about the whole meal experience. What a concept.

Look, I'm not saying this place will solve world hunger or anything, but in a sea of bland chain restaurants and "fusion" spots that couldn't fuse their way out of a paper bag, Brown Donkatsu is a rare find. It's the kind of spot that reminds you why you bother dragging your ass out to eat in the first place.

So if you're in North York and you're sick to death of the same old crap, give Brown...

I have been trying to come here for a while but its always packed. Finally on a Monday night there was room! Im glad I finally got to try it. To start, we were offered hot tea. I usually dont like hot tea but i think it was hot barley tea! I loved the flavour. I ordered the half brown sauce half carbonara pork katsu. Let me tell you, it was MASSIVE! I could have shared it with someone else with a similar appetite as me. I chose spice level 2. Spicy! Especially if you have the brown sauce by itself. If you cant eat spice, i dont suggest level 2. Spice level 2 was spicy but I like spice and it was next to the carbonara so the cream in that sauce cut the spice level. I was expecting one pork chop. It was two huge ones so tonight I have a midnight snack. I probably ate one pork chop only and was stuffed! Hubby ordered the cheese bomb katsu pork. It really was a cheese bomb. It was overflowing with mozarella. REAL pizzq mozarella. It was perfect. I think if he could have licked his plate he would have lol. He also helped me with some of mine and now he cant wait to go back. It came with a side of …. Pickled? Daikon. I loved that. The restaurant is very small. Thankfully no waiting today! A small downside which cant be helped. Every time someone opened the door during this polar vortex, we were blasted with cold air. Last but not least, everyone is so friendly there. Our server was so friendly and it was sincere. The restaurant manager was so friendly too! I highly...
