Ordered through skip the dishes the 3 egg and 3 peameal bacon Breakfast, rye toast and 2 coffees from gingerman's this morning. Fantastic Breakfast so large and peameal bacon so thick I actually made a peameal sandwich with my rye toast. Breakfast came with home fries. Price was more than reasonable for what I received. Recommend highly Update Ordered the hot turkey dinner and western sandwich. Both simply fresh, delicious and a very nice helping size. Update Ordered a fantastic cheese and bacon omlette and side of peameal bacon today through skip the dishes. It was huge and the meal feeds 2. Tasted really delicious, egg soft and fluffy with lots of cheese and bacon. We really enjoyed. Update Ordered the banquet burger, roast beef sandwich and fries. Roast beef was good but the burger was overcooked and dry. I also asked for my burger to have ketchup, mustard, relish and onions but all I got was a few packets of ketchup....not very impressed with today's order. On a brighter note we liked the gravy.

A lot of people would call this type of restaurant a "greasy spoon" but I think that term is a great disservice to many a restaurant. Instead, I would say The Gingerman is a classic restaurant with honest food and simple service. I don't live in the area but was wanting breakfast and saw this place as i drove by. Since I enjoy this type of unpretentious mom & pop type places I knew it was best to turn around and give it a try. Serving sizes was generous and friendly staff. The place was not too busy when I arrived so service was quick and attentive with a comfortable atmosphere. Nothing fancy just honest food done traditionally (like they have done it for 40 or 50 years). Not sure about the choice of pictures on the walls. 90s corporate motivational type things. It's odd. I mean even going to a local second hand or garage sale for those landscape paintings have go to be better. In the end I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a classic Canadian breakfast in the east end of the city.

A Cozy Find: Gingerman’s Breakfast Spot - A few friends and I were on the hunt for a close breakfast place with convenient parking (free parking lot!) and we stumbled upon Gingerman’s. What a lovely surprise! It’s a simple, cozy diner with a homely vibe—not overly fancy, but just what you want for a relaxed breakfast experience. The service was good, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. My omelette was seriously the biggest I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t get enough of the potatoes—such a refreshing change from the usual overly fried options. The menu offered a great variety, ensuring everyone in our group found something they loved. All in all, we couldn’t find anything negative to say—definitely a place we’ll return to. In fact, one of my friends is already planning a visit with her husband to savor more of their delicious eggs Benedict!

My experience after gong there for well over 10 years, I will not return. Offensive & aggressive because I asked for service, after the owners daughter ignored me to serve a single fellow, seated at a 4 person table who arrived after me. She looked stunned that I dared to ask, & when I asked why she served him before me she said she didn't see me. She then brought me a glass of warm tap water, no ice, while others, including the fellow served almost immediately after entering was served cold water with Ice... she claimed it was busy, which it absolutely wasn't, which was banged down on the table, followed by a coffee served in the same manner. Trying to maintain my calm, the owner then came to the table behind mine, and I heard say loudly for all to hear that she won't tolerate my kind of attitude or rudeness... at this point I got up & walked out, leaving her at the back of the restaurant. As i approached my car, I realized that this woman, the owner, was shouting 'hey lady', and as I put my purse in the car, shouted, 'yeah, that's what I thought', i guess thinking I was ignoring her. I walked back towards her and she was extremely confrontational, so I asked her what the problem was? She began shouting at me in front of her daughter, who had also come out of the restaurant, yelling that I had been rude to her daughter. I told her to stop yelling at me, unsure what the attitude was for and also that I had not been rude, nor had I raised my voice. I simply asked for service, which is what I went there for. I don't care if others think it is rude to ask for service, after being ignored - she brought him menu/water and was walking away again when I asked for service. I don't care if it is the owners daughter that felt offended. I felt offended by not being acknowledged after having sat there for several minutes. The restaurant was at 60% capacity at best, so the excuse, that she didn't see me is to poor. We were seated less than 3 feet apart and even at that point, after providing him ice water & a menu, she was walking away, again, and still did not once acknowledge that I too was deserving of service. Restaurant Mgmt needs lessons in how to deal with patrons. Staff normally is fabulous, even when run off their feet when it is busy, including the owner, so am taken aback by her aggressive behavior. I am a senior and the owner is much younger, but came out of the restaurant to start something with me for no reason... how pitiful is it that you come out to cause a scene for no reason and both you and your daughter are in the wrong. I am a patron, I didn't yell at anyone, or swear or kick up in the restaurant, or outside of it, I spoke my mind, following which I walked away. Definitely will not...

Update: little disappointed, had unknown foof charge of .50 cents…. Never noticed it before with old owners.. asked about it at cash.. new owner said was rye bread ..extra charge.. i said oh never had it before…. Waitress was near by…. Overheard…. The waitress said they always had this.. i just never noticed.. its not indicated on the menu i said…. Well with food price’s everything went up.. owner said.. my response was I get it.. she just kept talking over me…. The issue really never was the cost.. .50 cents…. .. it was about asking a question.. I just was wondering why.. she said ryes extra.. still confused never had this charge on bill from other company ..old owner..

She could have deescalated the situation by just saying…. Sorry about that.. you should have been informed.. .. i love the food do much. The price for three eggs pkus bacon or sausage is $11.99. They could raise this to 15.99. I would still come.

Arguing and not being listened to bring talked over.. not where i want to be.

I will find an alternative. My friends behaviour was inappropriate i do not apologize for someone else.

Waitress should have indicated extra charge.

Good bye gingerbread man..till we meet again!

Listening to people’s concerns is all we really want.

Life is too short.. i would be terrified to ask the lady owned for anything. My first visit was awesome.

Was not about the money just inquiries as to why. Just statement never charged prior or never noticed

I never received print out before paying.. eat go pay. The receipt at the table caught me by surprise

Absolutely the best food and the best service... love Breakfast. my favorite place to go. Well worth the visit always .. every time. I decide sometimes to make a custom order for something not directly priced on the menu. They have always priced my customer orders...

Got catfished by the reviews of this place.

Came by for a late breakfast, and the place wasn’t too busy so the service was quick and friendly which is where they get points. Atmosphere - it’s a dated diner so no points given or taken on this.

The food - we ordered French Toast w/ Turkey Bacon and a 3 Eggs Breakfast.

The 3 eggs with home fries and toast is straight forward, nothing out of the ordinary. Eggs were done right and whole wheat toast was well buttered

The French Toast w/ Turkey Bacon. At $13.49 plus $8.49 for 4 pieces of bacon it’s a $21.98 Meal. For this price I expected something a little better than was served. Got served 3 slices of whole wheat dipped in egg wash and pan seared. That’s it. No seasoning; no vanilla, no cinnamon or even sugar dusting on top. But worse was the turkey bacon, it looked like and tasted like I was eating salted Kraft paper. There is a better way to do turkey bacon if you want to charge the price of a full meal to add on. There is not level of inflation where you serve overcooked turkey bacon at this price.

What is being charged for what is being served doesn’t make sense. Safe to say this is a one and done...
