As I stepped into the grand lobby of the Grand Plaza Hotel, I was immediately struck by the elegance and sophistication that permeated the atmosphere. The hotel's interior design was a perfect blend of modern luxury and classic charm, setting the tone for a memorable stay. In this review, I will detail my experiences at the Grand Plaza Hotel, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses, to help potential guests make an informed decision. Location and Accessibility The Grand Plaza Hotel is strategically located in the heart of the city, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel is within walking distance to major attractions, restaurants, and shopping districts. Its proximity to public transportation hubs also ensures that guests can easily explore the city and its surroundings. I found the hotel's location to be one of its strongest selling points, providing unparalleled convenience and accessibility. Room Amenities and Services My room at the Grand Plaza Hotel was spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable king-sized bed and a sleek, modern bathroom. The room was equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and a coffee maker. The hotel's housekeeping staff ensured that the room was spotless and well-maintained throughout my stay. I was particularly impressed with the hotel's turndown service, which added a touch of luxury to my evening routine. The hotel's fitness center was another highlight of my stay. Fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the fitness center provided a convenient way to stay active during my trip. The hotel's spa services, including massages and facials, were also a great way to unwind and relax. I opted for a rejuvenating massage, which left me feeling refreshed and revitalized. Dining and Entertainment The Grand Plaza Hotel's dining options were diverse and impressive, with several restaurants and bars to choose from. The hotel's signature restaurant, Azure, served exquisite cuisine with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant's ambiance was upscale and intimate, making it an ideal spot for special occasions or business dinners. I also enjoyed the hotel's afternoon tea service, which offered a delightful selection of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. The hotel's bar, Eclipse, was a popular spot for guests to unwind and socialize. The bar's extensive cocktail menu and live music performances made it a great place to meet new people or simply enjoy a quiet drink. I was impressed with the bar's creative cocktails, which were expertly crafted by the hotel's mixologists. Customer Service The Grand Plaza Hotel's customer service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff available to cater to every need. The hotel's concierge team was particularly helpful, providing valuable recommendations and assistance with everything from restaurant reservations to sightseeing tours. I was impressed with the hotel's willingness to accommodate special requests, which added to the overall sense of luxury and personalized service. Meeting and Event Spaces The Grand Plaza Hotel's meeting and event spaces were state-of-the-art, with cutting-edge technology and expert event planning services. The hotel's team was instrumental in ensuring that every detail was taken care of, from catering to audiovisual equipment. I attended a conference at the hotel, which was expertly organized and executed, providing a seamless experience for...

This was my second time visiting this location after having just a few cocktails the first time, my boyfriend and I went back a second time for dinner and more drinks. I'm very happy we did!

Here are the Five S's for anyone wanting to visit this excellent restaurant in future (for dinner or just for drinks):

Space: A very unique space with a "seat yourself" policy, meaning you can find the perfect little snug hideaway at the back, or choose to sit at the bar or the high-top tables with a great view of the unique and appealing interior. A very eclectic mix of random memorabilia, antiques, whisky bottles and a very charming bar with an excellent selection of spirits

Seasoning/spice: We started with two martinis which were very well made, then went on to have the "Chinatown" calamari which was delicious and well-seasoned. The main courses were a Toad In The Hole which consisted of a huge, home-made Yorkshire pudding, a delicious Cumberland Sausage which was actually a traditionally made British sausage which was surprising and delicious. I had a Lamb Shepherd's Pie which was delicious, with a light and fluffy mashed potato, seasoned well with a very tasty, meat filled Lamb part. Fantastic. We finished with more cocktails and aged Whisky (they have an amazing selection of Whisky).

Size: Delicious food and the right size. Not too big and not too small.

Spend: The prices are worth it for the quality of the food. You won't be disappointed. Typically main courses are around $20-25 but again the quality of ingredients means it's totally worth it.

Service: Very good service, attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the drinks...

I recently went here with my sister and her husband who just flew in from b.c and immediately needed a dinner so we came here. A local recommended that we were walking by and overhead us looking for a patio. We had the hole in the wall burger and fries and wow. Incredibly delicious and tasted so fresh. The fries also fresh cut not processed years ago. Delicious with malt vinegar and they ketchup in a glass bottle too. The fried calamari was devoured quickly by the rest and was said to be very tasty as well as the starters and this very delicious sourdough bread with some amazing cheese, I can't see to locate it on the menu though. Overall, I do not drink beer but there is a huge selection if that's what your looking for, and same with wine and other drinks/cocktails.

The HITW burger is what I'm definitely coming back to eat on that patio. It was the best burger I've had in months. I did not venture inside. But I would guess it's very classic as the neighborhood around it is very old and beautiful and historic. Great...

We had a really great experience there. No reservations for small parties and walk ins only. We didn’t wait too long before seated at the bar. Overall, we were happy with meal, drinks and ambiance, but they were far from 5 star rating. Here is my break down on the food we tried: calamari was a bit saggy but flavorful. Toad in the hole was probably the best, fresh sausage and pudding batter. Sheppard’s pie was so-so, if you like strong lamb flavor you’d probably like the pie, to me it lacked proper seasoning and spices. Panna cotta was standard, Negroni was very aromatic with complex profile( loved it). The menus were awful, degraded and mostly torn pieces ( I get the hip vibe but still menus should be reprinted) . Serve staff were not auper friendly, rushed , and a bit aggressive in taking orders. Some diversity training for them would be beneficial.

I had the bacon burger and found it berry unflavored. I said that because the beef, if it had any season on it, was only at the surface, which overcame all the other flavours such as the bacon, picles and even the cheddar. The portion was very good. I also tried my partner's half chicken and even though most of the flavour was over the skin, even the chicken had more season in the meat than the Burger's beef. Service was great, attentive, and very discreet presenting suggestions and describing curiosities about the menu. For the atmosphere, I would only recommend to have a cleaning team coming in from time to time and dust the chandeliers. They are beautiful, but all the magic is lost when you can see the thick layer of dust stacked, hanging, and ready to fall on it.
